My Sister and I always talked over the phone long distance about the Chiefs before every scheduled game. The last time was 9-11-2022 before she went to bed . I think I’m the only bigger Chiefs fan and follower than my “Lil Sis”!. She was certain that we were on the way to another Super Bowl Championship and AFC Title again and Mahomes Magic would make it so . Renee didn’t wake up the next morning but Ive always been a believer in her “premonitions” and other weird stuff of hers and her totally scattered brain ideas and quirks of that kind of stuff that I’ll predict the same using my ” Lil Sis”s ” word as back-up on any anti-Cheifs rhetorical comments and naysayers, etc., etc., etc……
She’d be on her FaceBook account defending the Chiefs against the visiting team and laughing the hardest at the end time with the Chiefs down and not too hopeful for us and could almost always give a ” I told ya so “! remark to all the booers .
She also did one thing better than myself and that she could remember all the Official’s name and pretty much their own stats as to bad calls or bad non-calls .
She liked our Coaches kill attitude and hated Marty Ball types and loved the way Hank Stram and Andy Reid’s think and contemplate for the next fifthteen minutes and actually listens to the players that are seeing firsthand , up-front, and hearing it straight mouth to ears and eyes , not just from the side thirty yards away and 80,000 mouths screaming their own demands and just plain non-sensical jubilees as intense as your own home noise and drunken revelry.
The Cheifs lost a huge fan that night or early morning but you can’t stop her own predictions and beliefs and Faith in the Cheifs ever since 1961 along with me and 69 was not the only year of Greatness . It was just another Song for Kansas City to have and another great historical memory for those blessed to be from KC and all it’s burbs surrounding KC Proper . She always attended the Plaza Lighting Ceremony and was the loudest fan when I took her to a home game that I had gotten from my employer as a bonus. It was free so She got to splurge and as much Cheifs memorabilia as She could carry along with making myself and our younger brother could also tote and still get out of the nose-bleed section ( cheap seats, good boss but could a been better) but it didn’t take much to get the vendors to find better accommodations and game Veiwing closer to the action . The Chargers and Cheifs were hard enemies and rivals in their division along with Horse face Elway’s Broncos and “and Shot-in-the head ” was coach . We lost the game but still won the Division .
She had a bad feeling about the Cheifs that year but couldn’t say exactly what it was. The following week one of our Star Players and two team mates were involved I a muticat accident and killed the major star and severely injured the other’s on the highway running behind my home and just down from the “World’s of Fun” Amusement Park. But the following year we got Montana and Marcus Allan . AFC Chamionships a few more time and Mr. Hunt started feeling his age . But he was never afraid to spend his money on the team owned and treated KC and all it’s fans very good and always showed his appreciation to our Mayor’s and Government Officials and even Military personnel as well that the “City of Fountains” was his home .
Renee’s prediction is gradually coming thru and I am right there with her !!!!
