DPOY right now IMO and should get it this yr finally if he stays healthy.

The stat sheet doesn’t do this man justice. He does so many things that change the game. You can tell we are lost defensively when TJ isn’t on the field. Glad that Rooney opened the pocketbook to keep this man.

@Bane1240 might win it even if he doesn’t stay healthy considering what he’s done so far this season lol.

Just a pity he missed those couple games, but I still have faith in it.

@Meme Iselfaneye he is still statistically on pace to tie avg 1.3 a game through week 13 counting games he has missed if you count only games where he played than he is on pace to break it

@Bruins1970 Yeah, but if Watt hits the mark, he’ll do it in less than 16, because he missed time.

I just want him to beat out Myles for the most sacks this season. He may need that many to do that. I believe TJ has played 2 less games than Myles has

@Deaj it’s debatable to put shazier and Woolley in that category of greats. Shazier career was cut short (unfortunately) and woodley flamed out as soon as he left the burgh

@Deaj For an all time Steelers team in a 4-3, I’m taking Ham, Lambert, and Watt.
For a 3-4, I’m taking Ham, Lambert, Farrior, and Watt.
My reasoning: Ham and Lambert are hall of famers, showed up in the postseason and could do everything. Farrior because he had longevity and was very smart, one of the leaders on those 2000s super bowl defenses, and should be at least considered for the HOF and should’ve made more pro bowls but he sort of played under the radar to people outside of the fan base.
And Watt, who is currently having a run at the edge rusher position not ever seen by a Steelers defender, not even Kevin Greene or James Harrison had these numbers as a Steelers linebacker.

@C T That’s why I categorized Shazier in my second paragraph as someone you could take out of the list in theory. I think the list of the absolute best ever is certainly shorter.

I agree that Woodley is another, but Woodley was better at his peak than Haggans imo, and I still put Haggans on there. There are other guys I’m leaving out who were good at specific things. I thought about listing Vince Williams for instance, because he was a next level run stopper at his peak.

I think if we are going purely the top dogs than the list is more like Watt (maybe, but more time?), Harrison, maybe Timmons, Farrior, Porter, Lloyd, Gildon, Ham, and Lambert.

@Brandon Nist I mostly agree. Though I have a bias towards Lloyd and really would like to find room for him in a 3-4 system.

As for Watt, people have called other players unblockable, but he might genuinely be the least blockable player I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see how his career keeps playing out.

He will break Harrison’s record for most sacks in Steelers history since they’ve been recorded if he keeps on this pace for another 4 to 5 years

His brother played on the same type of team, all show, no go (Texans)
In other words, there’s no “ring” in this guys’ future (Just like his big brother…ringless)
