@MC Craig Yes I did know that. It was customary back then for the quarterback to call the plays, but it was all gone over in practice. The quarterback knew the plan for the offense and tried to go by that plan. If he ventured too far off course he would have to explain himself. Do you remember seeing some quarterbacks getting talked to on the sidelines for throwing when he should’ve run or vice versa? Those were the days, but these days they have speakers in the helmets and they use computers and who knows what else. They use to computers to look for tendencies of the other team which all goes into the game plan. But Griese wasn’t the OC. They actually had an OC and a DC. Look at Shula’s coaching staff from 1970… there were about 6 coaches on the team. Now there’s around 30.
@Carlos Guvetis I agree, but it was a whole different game back then. Hell, when Marino retired it was a whole different game! Now, since 2000, its a whole different game again!
He got wide open but Tua had to evade the Jets defense. Tua’s athleticism put him in position to throw to the wide open receiver who got extra time because Tua evaded the Jets defense. It’s a team sport.

see in the chat replay mentioning mac being so much better bla bla bla. have you guys that think that watched BOTH players and teams? have you looked at their qbr? or just stats? patriots are better balanced, better coached, better gameplans, better adjustments. i think miami has some better skill players but fall short in those other areas. the qbr shows that. mac has great stats and runs the offense well, but he doesn’t contribute as much to the wins. tua has a consistently higher qbr. he has some things to clean up, but he does more for this team than people give him credit for. and that’s a shame.
