Lol, Lions never had that strong of a defense even now bird brain. Who cares if they have Hutchinson he still got beat by the Eagles offense and it takes more than one defensive player to stop an offense of course.

I’ve always loved the vibe of the lions but they’ve never been as cohesive as they have this year (so far)

Yes the Eagles main goal wasn’t to score in the 4th, the first goal was to waste the clock, and scoring is secondary. They are focused on winning, not padding stats. This consists of running the ball and short, high percentage completions. While the defense keeps everything in front of them and makes the Lions use clock. I’m really surprised I have to explain this, these are pretty well known tactics when you are up multiple scores the 4th. I don’t know what you mean by not in control. The Eagles were doing what they wanted as far as their game plan, by racking up point early and wasting clock late. And while in the prevent they were making the Lions do exactly what they wanted them to do, which was trade time for yardage and points, so in the end, they run out of time and lose. When your dictating the pace of the game and the other team is doing what you want, you’re in control. Surely you aren’t suggesting the trailing team was in control while playing catch up all 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter. I never said that Lions didn’t have a chance and I’ve given their Oline and RB props twice in this thread because they are very good building blocks to have. The Eagles are likely to have one of the more dominate DLine in the league and with Cox, Hargrave, Milton, and Davis plugging up the middle, should be very stout against the run. The fact the Lions were running at will was very impressive, but when you get behind, by that much early, you kind of have to throw it…again falling into what the Eagles wanted/needed them to do.
“The Lions couldnt capitalize quick enough” EXACTLY. What part of making the other team trade yardage/points for time dont you understand? You keep everything in front, give them easy completions for 5-10 yards and keep the clock running because you are betting they wont have time to catch up in the given situation. To say the Lions showed heart or whatever is silly because the Eagles defense is playing off coverage and they dont really have to do anything to get 10 yards a play. Alot of bad teams do the same thing in garbage time, he’ll Prescott is notorious for padding his stats when his team is multiple scores down on the 4th.
I dont know how they could be anymore in control when youre dictating what the other team does but I’m sure you’ll tell me how.

@William Blackfyre I didn’t say they weren’t in control of the game dude, i’m saying they barely had the ball in the 4th, only that last drive of theirs was really the time they had the ball, other than that they had a first down then punt. & stop putting words in my mouth, i’m saying the lions we’re in game, not the lions being in control of the game. the lions got the eagles to punt after 4 plays then punt again onna three and out, both possessions under 2:30, the lions had the ball back and were moving, 3rd and 3 results in a fumble ending in a sack, that’s them not capitalizing, could’ve potentially had at least a fg, then had the ball again to score but didn’t take any chances trying to score quick till there was 5 minutes left, then on the Eagles drive, had them at 3rd & short & literally had Sanders in the backfield but he broke free for a big gain ended up causing the lions to use their last two timeouts and failing to stop the hurts sneak on 4th. Just a wasted opportunity for the Lions that costed them.

@Toasty it’s just what I think, no need to get offended. I still think their team is lacking a lot. I wouldn’t expect to see them make it to the playoffs until next season or the following. Also, the Lions played real hard in that game, and you can tell. They wont have that passion in any other games this season.

@ju like you said, he’s way over exaggerating. If Sanders is stopped on that 3rd down they punt the ball and the lions would’ve had a real shot at winning. This game showed me that once the mishaps like the 6 drops get cleaned up, the lions will be fine.

On a real note very surprised and impressed to see them grind that hard

@Chris Colbert The thing that burns me up is that all that negative reputation is based on an overblown event that happened over 50 years ago and that most people don’t even the know the facts of. Fans didn’t boo Santa Claus, they booed a skinny drunk kid that was making a fool of himself while he happened to be in a Santa Claus suit. That and the general shenanigans of the Vet’s infamous 700 level, which I think was the primary reason for seat license fees at the Linc – “keep the riff-raff out”.

As a Eagles fan, NO ONE should get points for playing their butt’s off. It is a given in any sport and if you don’t give a maximum effort, win or lose, you don’t deserve to be on any field, court or ice rink. The fact that the Lions are being congratulated for their great effort shows how low they’ve been. Now if one says, ‘we need to do better in these ares in order to win our next game” — I’ll go along with that observation 100%.

As Eagles fans, we expect to “ball” EVERY GAME and we expect execution. eg. tackling: which was non-existent with the Eagles this game. We also EXPECT maximum effort and better execution(tackling) along with a “W” next Monday night at home against the Vikings.
