OC Mike LaFleur Press Conference | The New York Jets | NFL – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE

W’s thats all anyone cares about. If not a W, then a competitive contest not too dissimilar to the Buccaneers game last year.

Nick H

So weird man. Lafleur genuinely seems like a smart guy and showed some great creativity last year. Everything against the ravens was so predictable and boring. I don’t understand why his playcalling is so inconsistent

    Jimmy Whispers

He is having a problem utilizing talent, and they felt they needed to hire John Beck to coach up Zach, also put him up in the booth instead of on the sidelines, that should tell you something about the guy, he never deserved that job, he was never a playcaller at any level.

    Dylan Danehart

@Jon Woo Absolutely agree. Adaptation allows a team to cover up their own weaknesses and expose weaknesses of another team.

    Sunil S

It’s called playing not to lose… Daboll stole his balls

    Jimmy Whispers

@Dylan Danehart Pound the rock to set up the playaction, throw it over the top, this guy thinks he invented offense, football is supposed to be fun.

    jim dandy

@Jimmy Whispers Not just problem utilizing the talent… Good at alienating it. When Mims walks I hope he ends up in the division and makes this guy look like a fkn total fool!

MegaVegan

Garrett needs to learn all of the WR positions…where have we heard that before?

    Bethpage Chris

It’s absurd…yet Cager is a master at the playbook?

    Sunil S

    Seriously, it’s every one else’s fault… Mims … now Garrett… amazing…

    Benjamin

I stg if this staff ruins Garrett idk what I’ll do

    jim dandy

@Benjamin exactly what youre doing now. This is what they do on repeat. Sucks

Frank P

I also believe this guy is one reason Mims is not playing, find ways to use good player strengths that’s what good OC do

    Guitearist

Mims isn’t playing because we have like 8 better receivers than him.

    Barney Miller

Yeah, I commented above. It’s like if the younger players are confused, just simplify the playbook for a while. I think that’s true for QB’s. Mike White last year and Streveler this season. I’m guessing they had a stripped down version or number of plays as back ups. I dunno. Hopefully they’ll figure it out.

    Sunil S

100 pct now he’s messing Garrett

Juan Rodriguez

One thing about Saleh and Laflure is that they aren’t actually accountable for the product that they gave us last week. These coaches throw up word salad and this is a situation where you put up or shut up. This Lafleur guy needs to learn how to adapt. Run game was killing ravens and then they throw 59 passes?!??

    BluntedVegas702

    100% yes yes and yes

    Barney Miller

Yeah. I think he knows that. Hopefully he comes up with a better game plan this week. No matter who you’re playing you can throw that much with Statue Flacco and a swiss cheese O Line.

Tha Answer aka Chideka

Where dem dogs at? Wheather you are a winner or not is determined by your record, not the excuses you make.

You got the pieces, figure out how to put them in the best situations to score. We got to be better than this, man! We just gotta be!

L. Black

Newsflash. A starting lineup of Corey Davis, Moore, and Braxton Berrios isn’t scaring any DB’s in the league. Wilson, Mims, Moore and those new TE’s will.

    Sunil S

Wilson Mims Moore Berrios Uzomah Conklin… let the best players play… not the highest earning… take a page from Daboll Saleh

JusstnC

I don’t wanna hear about Wilson Having to master all positions to play. Electric players belong on the field. PERIOD

    JusstnC

@BluntedVegas702 I like mike, but he’s going to over complicate things thinking this way. It’s this logic that’s kept Mims getting less reps than Jeff smith… get out there and attack the defense

    BluntedVegas702

@JusstnC for once we are loaded at the WR position. Garrett Wilson is gonna be a Superstar.

    jim dandy

Same with Mims… This fkn guy has got to GO!!!!

    Barney Miller

@JusstnC Yup. Smith & Cager should be on the practice team. Garrett should be starting and Mims should be out there for 3rd downs at least. Someone’s gotta’ sneak into 1 Jet Drive and just cut that playbook in half. Simplify it!! Less is more!! Etc.

    Sunil S

    Hundred percent

BluntedVegas702

Garrett Wilson is gonna be a Superstar, get the ball in his hands. LETS GO JETS!
KLECO!

Chrono Kenny

Our 2 best WR are elijah and Garrett. They should get 90% of the snaps.

    jim dandy

And Mims should be out there

    Chrono Kenny

@jim dandy No. Mims route running is atrocious and his mental errors and penalties should not happen to a 3rd year player. Mims is one thing this coaching staff got right.

Blue + Yellow Blood (Do the Math)

Agreed! I also don’t care if Mims does not know every route..He has the best chance to win on go routes down the sideline. LET HIM DO THAT EVERY PLAY. (1 route)

Blue + Yellow Blood (Do the Math)

Also, Jets is the only team that has a 2nd year WR with talent, they cannot figure out how to use to their advantage!

    jim dandy

@Chrono Kenny Yet he looked better than anyone all TC! I hope he scrambles egg on these fools faces sooner than later. The emperor is NEKKID!!!

Sunil S

Ultimately coaches and calls matter… Daboll is a perfect example…brilliant coaching… and we got Mike

Mike Saunders

LaFleur is what happens when analytics takes over

    Barney Miller

He’s a bit too “Moneyball”. I’ll give you that. And the whole “they gotta’ know the whole route tree” sounds a lot like the Mims stuff from last year. It’s like stop trying to fit the players to the scheme, make the scheme work for the TALENTED players you have. But I’m still gonna’ give LeFleur time. He’s smart. And it’s a nice balance of his nerdiness and Salehs’ endless “optimisim”. Fingers crossed.

Xix1326

Remember, LaFleur had trouble early last season but improved greatly when he moved up to the booth. Was that just a temporary improvement? Let’s see what happens when (if) Zach comes back.

    Barney Miller

I feel his scheme is a bit too complicated for younger players. Zach, Mims now Garrett. So the older players get the nuances quicker: Flacco, Davis. It’s just that the older players on the Jets aren’t as talented as the younger players. Hopefully that’ll all gel eventually. The whole first have of the season was always gonna’ be bumpy. Becton, Brown & Zach’s injuries just increased that bumpiness. As fans we gotta’ be patience. We’ll see land before this storm of a schedule is over. Hold tight Jet nation!

bluestripetiger

Mike Lafleur is quickly reaching “hot seat” status. Ineffective play on offense last year, all preseason, and in the new season opener. If the offensive ineptitude continues he’ll be in a heap of trouble.

    J E

He acts like he won 3 Championships .play Garrett wilson asap what rookies know entire playbook make adjustments to players strengths and plays they know.you don’t bench talented players when your a losing Franchise.

Blessing Appiah

Play Garrett 80% of snaps or fire Lafleur no excuse for our 10th overall pick not starting all our rookie defensive players are starting its always Mike lafleurs side of the ball with GLARING issues

live2 thefullest

Does this man inspire confidence in anyone? He got all the weapons he asked for , WR, TE’s, RB and now seems confused on how to use them. What’s the game plan? No identity or strategy on offense, it seems.

    J E

This is why we are a losing franchise. Play your talented players make adjustments to their strengths what rookies know entire playbook gtfoh lefleur and Saleh.

JC

This guy plays cager more than mims or Wilson he is responsible for not playing to his players strengths every snap under center not once shotgun the line isnt blocking so you don’t throw 2 or 3 tight end sets he just has an inability not to make in game adjustments
Play your best players put Garrett and mims out there put some pressure of the DB’S and linebackers instead of 4 yd outs
This man should be on notice as fans we set the bar so low this year realistically of winning maybe 7 games this coaching staff can’t put their players in position to compete for 60 full minutes look at other teams with not even as much talent as we have either their winning close games or competing for a full effort for 4 qtrs
Enough excuses already its getting real old

Chuck Bo

This is profootball not college. You devise a system to your players strengths. Not to their weaknesses.

aaron butler

Baltimore laughing at this inept guy. That’s the Ravens way. Total dominance.

Bza

Jets schedule is brutal. I just don’t see them winning many games until the second half of season
