The idea that Elway was not a good GM is absolutely laughable.

Thank you I agree with you 100% it’s funny how everybody trash talks Elway where he was GM he took them to two Super Bowls in the first three years he was in there and no other GM has ever done that
I like Elway. Always have. As a player, and an executive.
Elways 1st 5 years Exec. stats were a win % of 0.7252. But Last 5 years were a win % of 0.4004. We had 2 SB appearances then 2 5-11 seasons.
That said, it was time for a change. Considering the talent on the team, there is no reason for the Broncos to have a win % of below .500 last 5 years.
So all Paton has to do is go 9-7 the next 6 years, and he will do better than Elway (statistically)
If you think the Broncos are going further downhill because of the Paton acquisition, you either are very uneducated, or have no faith in the Broncos at all, as you can’t get much worse than the last 5 years here. If you also think Paton needs 2 SB appearances to match Elway, again, you are uneducated, as Paton’s contract is only 6 years, to Elways 10.
5 back-to-back losing seasons don’t get a pass just because of what happened 8 years ago.
Ask any NFL Owner or Exec.

As I said, I love Elway too, but it was time for a change of pace.
Elway just cemented Immortal status in Denver as this hire will take the franchise in the right direction.

Thank god John Elway is almost gone. Thank god. Mike Shanahan was right about Elway, he would never, ever put in the right amount of work. OTHER than getting Peyton Manning he did almost nothing worthy of a GM.

Elway’s rebuild of the Broncos between 2013 and 2015 are some of the most brillaint decisions in NFL management history. Post Kubiak’s health problems thngs have not been the same, but building that defense and firing Fox was pure brilliance!
