It all depends on Ickey and if he pans out to be a worthy 1st round draft pick AND if CMC stays healthy.
He doesn’t have to be very good actually. Cam earving is still getting torched with the backups……Washington had 3rd string tackle better than him…….anything is better than cam earving
Don’t put this on ickey he’s a rookie he will make mistakes we need a good tandem from all position groups
@Splash I’m not putting it on Ickey at all. I am saying that their success is dependent on his success and the success of CMC. If Ickey doesn’t pan out then that is on the Panthers executive team and coaching staff b/c the kid has the skills, imo.
Yeah panthers need a lot of guys to stay healthy, they have a bunch of talent but a lot of them are young and there’s a big drop off between some starters vs there backups especially on the lines.
Hoping that Rhule finally shows he had a clue what’s going on. His entire stint as head coach has been disappointing.
I’m still just waiting for us to get back to back winning seasons for the first time in franchise history. Hopefully Baker can be what we need to finally make that happen.

That DEF had Myles Garrett last season, when they GAVE UP 4-5 WINS last season. I don’t get excited about FLEXING vs BAD TEAMS. They gave up damn near 60 PTS in the 2ndH in LOSING to KAN and the LAC. Its funny how their FAILURES, keep getting dismissed.

@D Flatt no. His point is they won games (flexed) against bad teams. But when Cleveland played good offenses like KC and LAC they got torched. Basically Myles garret and co. Are good but let’s pump the breaks on calling them the 85 bears like the guy in the video made them out to be.
@Anthony Izquierdo Don’t think anyone compared them to the 85 Bears except you. Their defense was solid last year considering they had 2 rookies and 5 new starters. Not to mention a QB that couldn’t make a first down. I can explain how this effects the defense if you wish. Not everyone has common sense. Will they have an overpowering defense this year? No. They will be solid though (if DT doesn’t become an issue).

@D Flatt I’m sure you watched every browns game, doesn’t change the fact that their defense is over rated and bakers play wasn’t the only factor in them regressing from 11 wins the previous year. And by the time their predator of a qb can actually play they will be the laughingstock of the league AGAIN. Baker took a team that was 1-31 the two years prior to him arriving and made them respectable and the team kicks him to the curb for a guy who makes Big Ben look like a saint off the field. Enjoy being the worst team in your division every single year again for the next 26 years between playoff wins.

Panthers had a top of the league defense last year. Brain Burns, Jeremy Chinn and oh yeah, JC Horn gets to play this year. It should be interesting for sure.

WTH are you even talking about? Mayfield did exactly that in CLE. He went to a situation that was the WORST in the NFL, 1-31, filled with DYSFUNCTION, and DESPAIR, and he EMBRACED it. Despite 4 HC’s, and 4 OC’s in 4 years, that 3rd season, he ELEVATED them to 11-5, to the Playoffs, a Playoff win on the road, at PIT, and a BLOWN CALL, and DEFENSIVE LETDOWN, from quite possibly, upsetting KAN.
No matter how you choose to look at it, the FACT remains, he was INJURED last year, and with NO GUARANTEES, for the future, PLAYED through it for the TEAM, and the CITY. Meanwhile, the guy they DUMPED him for, QUIT on his team, in HOU. Mayfield wasn’t the only injury last year, but they one, they couldn’t overcome. He’s HEALTHY now, and MOTIVATD… #StormIsComing

I’m concerned about Ickey going against Myles Garret this weekend. He’s gotta step up after that Patriots game. Hopefully he can. If he has a bad day Baker could get hurt. I’m hoping that some of these guys will eat their words though and that they will be talking about us late in the season. We just need to solidify that offensive line.
Brady is a better LT, but the coaching staff don’t want our 6th pick to be a LG. I don’t get it. They have to put the best player at the best position to succeed. Ickey can be all pro LG. Right now he have to prove he can be a decent starter at LT.

Panthers Oline will be an issue for him. He gets flustered when under pressure and makes poor decisions (mentally and mechanically) with the football.
Browns got little bitty receivers that couldn’t separate, coupled with Baker’s injury, they couldn’t overcome the defenses inability to get off the field in third downs. Baker is an elite QB who played for a really bad team.

Do people forget that the panthers defense was number 2 overall in the league last year. Phil snow deserves so much credit. And Jaycee horn is back. This team is definitely a playoff contender at the very least. Not to mention CMC being a comeback player of the year candidate if he stays healthy
I think a lot of people overlook that when talking about the potential of the Panthers. If they had average/mediocre QB play last year I think they go 11-6, but it should be interesting this year.
230 million guaranteed for damaged goods. As a lifetime Browns fan this was a bad mistake. The Panthers are gonna like Baker.
Give baker a defense that actually gets you the ball back on third down instead of turning every game into a shootout

Why does everybody forget about Bakers rookie year? Where he stepping into a 1-1-32 team who hadn’t won a game in over 600 days, saw his first on the field action after the starting QB goes down with an injury leaving him to walk on 14-0 down with under 2mins left in the 2nd quarter and he still comes back to win and breathes life into Cleveland.
What he did that rookie year was nothing short of miraculous, broke the rookie passing TD record whilst missing 2 and a half games on the most dysfunctional team in sport yet this all gets overlooked for some reason.
