@Marco Antonio Regil how many big games did he really lose though? His stats in the playoffs are pretty solid, especially for a QB who won only a few playoff games due to idiotic defensive mistakes, horrible coaches and god-awful kicking. People act like rivers was the problem but it was usually everything but rivers
@The Old School Expert I still to this day believe it’s we wouldn’t have fumbled the damn ball trying to chew clock when we were beating New England in the divisional round all those years ago that we would’ve won the super bowl that year. I agree rivers didn’t himself blow a lot of playoff games, but his quality of play overall in the playoffs never matched his regular season quality of play.
@Colton Caskey that’s very true. He also had a torn ACL in one of those games and didn’t have LT and gates in another. And his passer rating in the playoffs was only 2 points lower than Eli Manning’s and Eli won two Super Bowls. So the argument that Rivers is why they never won a SB is asinine. Dude had absolutely terrible luck in the playoffs (while admittedly playing average and not his normal regular-season self)
@The Old School Expert I agree. Chargers get a bad rap (I can’t say we don’t deserve it) but we were one of the top 5 organizations of the 2000-2010 era. We could’ve had 1 and maybe 2 Super Bowls had just a few instances never happen. I am %100 faithful we bring a trophy home to los Angelos in the Herbert era tho. This kid is just different
@Colton Caskey 100% agree with you. Herbert is special and will eventually bring them a championship if Telesco can continue to develop a team around him. They made massive improvements to the O-line, now fix the defense, get him a tight end who can catch and watch him win 3 rings
Will always love Phil, he’s the reason I’m a Chargers fan. Also miss M80, dude was so underrated and made some wild catches.
To many injuries, he was beast
@oscar lara True, he was often injured because he would sell out for every catch. I never once questioned effort when it came to M80.
That throw to Keenan is still so mindblowing. It feels like the ball is floating around in the air forever and will end up being out of bounds just for it to fall down like Japanese Kamikaze plane.
People like to make fun of his throwing motion but Phil had crazy good touch on the football
I saw that live! I was sitting in that end zone but the left side. Very Fun game I remember we had to win and get help to make playoffs. My brother, I and a bunch of other fans were constantly checking the other game scores during the game just hoping something would actually go right. Of course nothing ever went Rivers way. The unluckiest QB in NFL history! I

I dont know how he threw the ball so accurately and strong with his throwing motion, but it always got where it needed to go. Wish we could have put together a playoff run one of the seasons we made it to the playoffs, especially the earlier years with LT. But he’s a hall of famer like fouts.
