Growing up a Bengals fan, hate and respect were synonymous. I hated those “Steel Curtain” Pittsburgh teams, because they were so damn great, but I respected them even more, and Franco is/was a part of the respect I have/had.

He seemed to be such a humbled, nice person as well. I was in tears when I heard the news that he had passed away, especially before this upcoming weekend when he was to be honored.

He was one of my late mother’s favorite players, and that adds to the sadness of this all. R.I.P. Mr Franco Harris, you are/were truly a legendary man/player, Godspeed sir…πŸ™πŸΌ…

Nothing has ever brought the city of Pittsburgh together more than the Steelers of the 70’s. Complete strangers could be like brothers when rooting for the Steelers and Franco was the player/person the city loved the most. And he has always treated Pittsburgh and Pittsburghers with love and respect. He was an amazing man.
