Edit: Also the play calling for mills was way to conservative for me, it’s preseason let him air it out a bit more.
We got the Rams on Friday, so maybe he’ll play longer in that game.
Hell get most playing time in week 3 to get him closer to mid season form. Mills will get his reps

Things I learned from this game. Davis mills is 100% gonna be the starter. Dameon pierce is gonna be something else for us. And the texans defense is gonna be much better than last year
@Vex Agent – You don’t think Saints will playoffs? They have a top 3 defense, plus Thomas, Landry, Olave, and Kamara. That’s for sure a wild card. Possibly better

Honestly defense is looking solid for y’all. once y’all get a qb that’s actually decent, no offense to daddy long neck Davis Mills but he isnt starter material, y’all don’t have a starting caliber qb. wish y’all the best this year.

Dominated with defense all the second half then fumbled at the goal line. A busted coverage gives up 47 yards then they followed that up with a wide open TD 🤦🏾♂️. I understand it’s backups playing, but these are the guys that will have to play for the starters to rest or at worst an injured starter needs someone to step up. Overall happy with how my team played, especially how Andy looked. Paulson and Hansen maybe clutch in some wins with the offense focusing on the other starters on defense
All I’m seeing in these comments is *excuses* that are pretty much *double-standards* because both were playing 2nd & 3rd strings. Meaning both squads are just as susceptible to mistakes and miscommunication… One team was just better at it than the other and executed their plan of attack & defense better?

@Isaiah Daughtery Excuses? I literally said what went wrong with my team. Of course I’ll get upset with my team when they could’ve won. Even if it’s preseason I want those guys to make a roster even if it’s not on the Saints. Fumbling at the goal line and busting a coverage with less than two minutes left won’t have other teams looking at them.
@Nicholas Alexander other than that fumble I think Abram smith will make the cut, he had some really strong runs and can definitely be a good second string along with tony jones Jr. but those blown coverages on defense? That’s a no go, and Ian Book is honestly not good. Andy Dalton looked ready to play though, I’m excited to see what this year brings.

It’s the first preseason game. “Someone needs to step up.” They just started fool, how they going to step up when they just started. Get out of here my guy. And plus majority of the players in the 2nd half are rookies and won’t even be in the NFL by next month

As a Saints fan: I’m glad we got Andy Dalton. He’ll be a great QB to fit in with Winston. Unlike last year when we had Hill, Siemien, and Books trying to compete for the job during the season. The defense is solid still. The backup OLine and Ian Books showed why they’re bench warmers. Washington isn’t a bad back. He showed some promise early on this game. Tre’Quan Smith needs to tighten up on those catches, but he did well for the most part.
All in all, a lot of promise so far. Just need to be concerned with our 3rd stringers.

Saints defense and defensive depth looks as solid as usual, not really a surprise there. The Saints also have some stellar offensive weapons in the 1st and parts of the 2nd string, but past that oof. Weak, especially Ian Book. They have to hope they don’t end up with the injury bug that they did last year. Without that injury bug, they can easily shock the league by taking the NFC South and pushing deep in the playoffs. Do NOT sleep on that team just because Sean Payton is gone. All it takes is a little luck vs injuries for them to go a long way.

Overall this was a good preseason game to watch. I always love when the Saints play Texas teams since we are neighboring states. The Saints looked good defensively except for that last drive. I am not quite sure what happened there. Andy Dalton came out on fire with that opening TD drive which I am glad to see, and then it was Ian Book from there. Ian has to work on those high passes but im sure he will. Need to work on the turnover ratio. Now we’re on to Green Bay. WHO DAT!

Ian Book is not NFL ready. His throws downfield are terrible.
As a Saints fan, Ian Book just doesn’t have it. He isn’t ever gonna be a starter unfortunately. It’s been a year and his decision making hasn’t gotten any better and his mechanics are still really wonky and unpolished. I just don’t see him being developed into anything more than a guy used for scout team reps.
