@Eric Holmquest But this IS football. If those who are persecuted for being gay have to deal with it in and out of the locker room, then being there to support them for a day (that’s all that is asked for here) shouldn’t be that hard. I’m straight and I 100% support this.

I knew Jerry Smith in Austin in the early 80’s. I remember having Thanksgiving dinner with him and other friends. Great guy.
Thank you for this message. Especially acknowledging that coming out is only something someone can do when THEY’RE ready. I truly hope that the world is able to accept an openly gay or bisexual NFL player or staff member, and this statement is a big step towards ensuring that it is.
This is a great message to put out, and i’m sure it means a lot to a lotta people out there who may be confused about their sexuality or feel unsafe to come out. Just ignore the homophobes storming this video to make a point, cuz they will gradually become rarer and less relevant 🏳️🌈
The NFL itself needs to come out of the closest. It certainly isn’t what it used to be.
