Najee Harris wins NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month | Pittsburgh Steelers

See highlights of Najee Harris, who was named Offensive Rookie of the Month for October

Running back Najee Harris continues to show why the Steelers drafted him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and his efforts haven't gone unnoticed league wide.

Harris was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month for October for his efforts, which included four games from Week 4-8.

During the four-game stretch Harris had 88 carries for 356 yards, a four-yard average, and three touchdowns. He also added 17 receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown. He scored one touchdown in every game during the month. His 356 rushing yards during the month ranked fifth overall in the NFL and his 480 scrimmage yards ranked eighth. He also led all rookies in total touchdowns, rushing yards and rushing touchdown (tied) in October.

"He's getting better every week, but I think that's a reasonable expectation," said Coach Mike Tomlin. "We're talking about a guy who has some talent, but who is getting acclimated to the professional game. The learning experience is what it is. He's a sharp guy and he's learning quickly. So, it's reasonable to expect him to continue to put together increasingly better performances, particularly in the short term."

Harris kicked off the month against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4 with 15 carries for 62 yards and a touchdown, and six receptions for 29 yards.

He came back the following week with his first 100-yard rushing performance, carrying the ball 23 times for 122 yards and a touchdown in a Week 5 win over the Denver Broncos at Heinz Field. Harris also had two receptions for 20 yards.

I am a Steelers fan and I love najee and I hope he does but i still kind of think that jamarr chase will win it

    Frederick E

@MayMay we’ll just have to see chase struggled today lol

    MayMay

@Frederick E ya it’s too early too really say for sure who it will be crossing my fingers for najee though

    Frederick E

    @Jesse Roberts fr

    sons of liberty

@Jesse Roberts 2nd half of the season yet and he’s just getting his legs. If Harris pulls off 1,000yds and 600 recieving he’s going to get the Roy. It’s very possible because everything is beginning to gel. Wouldn’t mind seeing pat with 50rec and 10td either. To have your te do that it signals a good run game.

    Steven Reeves

    I hope so

Some people said that Najee wouldn’t be able to do anything behind that offensive line but he is looking real good to me😏

    Yancy Jenkins Sr

@R B people have no patience anymore. I knew we’d be ok. People complained bout Chuks..did good job with Von. Cry bout Moore..he held his own vs numb nuts. Just let the maturation process unravel itself.

    Trevor Payne

@Hunter Malhotra najee harris’ successful run rate in the month of October was 59.2% . That’s an insane stat, rb’s just aim for 50% usually

    Hunter Malhotra

@Isaac If numbers mean nothing, then I don’t know what more objective measurement there is to use…

    Earl Simmons IV

And he’s doing this with absolutely no blocking πŸ˜‚

Najee is the man.. Hes getting better every week

TheHoundGamer

Absolute goat of a running back. No one I’d rather have rn.

JosΓ©

I love his jump diving tds ⚫️🟑⚫️🟑

    Devin Williams

If he keeps doing that then I bet he can start juking with it too, pretend to jump and then just pump it outside

    Frederick E

    Me too 😎

    Drinking Cigarettes & Smoking Alcohol

ben doesn’t lmao, i think only because if he fumbles — or worse — he could hurt himself if he lands wrong, thus ending his career.

Heath N

That misdirection and motions Canada uses has also been a big part to the running game being effective. Watch the plays with the WR motion that looks like it’s gonna be a wr sweep and look at the opposing LBs, it freezes them in their shoes allowing a positive run

Keith Muir

Awesome! Keep it up “NAJ”!

Paul Logemann

Im proud of that O-line and what they managed to improve if you compare week 1-3(4) to the last 3 weeks.
Now Najee really can show his potential!!!

12Joseph23

His blocking is what sets him apart from most backs. If the 2018 Steelers had a player like Najee Harris, they would have went to the Super Bowl. He has high football IQ. 2017 and 2018 Steelers were the only team in the NFL that were top 5 on offense and defense; more important point, the Steelers had way too may crucial fumbles in 2018 ,not only in the red zone but they came late in the games with the lead. Cleveland, Denver and New Orleans, leading to the meaning, all turnovers are not created equally.

    USMC Young Gun

Absolutely! Check out the last second block Najee had on Myles Garrett on that Friermuth TD pass. That was a huge clutch pickup to let Ben get that pass off.

JMJArkansas40 nature

Great running back but even a greater person

Terron Vill

Congratulations Najee πŸ’ͺ🏽

J Money

Robbin Caracter
