Myles Garrett Postgame Press Conference vs. Jets | Cleveland Browns – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Patrick Keith

Hilarious Joe Woods played prevent defense on the Jets game winning drive, but didn’t play prevent defense when the Jets had no timeouts, less than two minutes and allowed a 66 yard TD pass. If there’s ever a time to play prevent defense you do it that drive. Not the game winning drive and just let them run plays underneath, get out of bounds, use as little time as possible and get into scoring position

    Mason Lawlor

He did play conservative defense, you had two safeties sitting in the back coverage. Both of them are not very good and they’re too dumb to cover that guy.

    Will

    Joe woods is terrible.

    John Smith

    Exactly!

Jason Knotts

The whole team didn’t let up, the defense screwed the pooch. Just like last week. Offense scored 30 with Brissett. I haven’t been this appalled with a performance by the browns defense in my 30 years of following the team.

    Frontierland Frank

@Spacehog1981 there’s no reason we should be “bad” with this defensive unit. That’s absurd to think so also. It’s one of the best rosters in the league. I’m not worried about record as much as I am how the defense ranks due to our qb situation.

    Spacehog1981

@Frontierland Frank this defensive unit just gave up 31 to the last place Jets at home. Maybe it’s the coaches, maybe it’s Brownie the elf, maybe God Himself. Who knows? Tell me this, what top 10 offense has this Browns defense shut down ever? Cincy? Nope, they were middle of the pack last year statistically. Green Bay? Also middle of the pack. But we did play the Chiefs and Chargers. How did this elite defense fare against them? Oh, and of course the vaunted Jets.

    Frontierland Frank

@Spacehog1981 I’m not disagreeing. But through various stats they were top 10 last year overall. How they combined all the statistics to get there idk. I’m sure you could find that out. But I’m anything but a fan of this defense. I thought woods needed to go after year one. Due to his inability to do basic things (like having coverage LBs on TEs, putting players in bad position etc) you’re preaching to the choir on that. I’m just going off of the stats when saying what I did earlier.

    Shawn Johnson

@David DeMaria well that’s a question that you, I or more importantly, the players and coaches don’t have the answer to, better get that answer before Thursday.

    Spacehog1981

@Frontierland Frank fair enough. All I’m saying, (and I may be over-reacting like crazy after a nasty loss) is that I’m having trouble buying that this team is actually any good. The last time I remember this team looking really good was last year vs. Cincy in their first game. It was the only game all of last year that we looked really good except maybe the opener? So it has been quite a while since I’ve found myself thinking, “Yeah, there’s a good team playing well.” Maybe it’s the coaches. Maybe it’s the players, who knows? But this team’s days of looking good were 2 years ago at this point. Now we are good on paper. The Lakers were good on paper too.

Micah C.

Players & coaches keep saying “we will correct it” ..this has been going on since last season..not just today!

    Robert Metzinger

@Jeremy 1776 meanwhile back in Carolina Baker threw for 140 yards today yep that’s your quarterback

    Micah C.

@Robert Metzinger yea obviously but the year before that we made it to the playoffs & lost to a Super Bowl team after winning the wild card can’t really complain there

    Jeremy 1776

@Robert Metzinger my point isn’t that Baker is the answer, my point is that he was the scapegoat.

    Jeremy 1776

@Robert Metzinger my point isn’t that Baker is the answer, my point is that he was the scapegoat.

    Renaissance man

@Micah C. offense got better cuz they run the ball way more then last year, it wasn’t baker but just horrible play calling last year

neanderthals navel

Defensive captain did a heck of a job in the last 2 minutes

Henry Kargbo

So when do the 2022 Browns plan on playing “elite defense?” The season is two weeks in and this defense is incredibly offensive!

    sipesthebest

    Henry Kargbo,
There’s nothing “elite” about the personnel of our defense as a whole right now. We have a couple of elite players, but the overriding factor of that unit is youth. The 53 overall is still one of the very youngest in the league, so anyone listening to those who are attempting to label the 2022 Browns as a SB contender are seriously deluding themselves.

    Remy Barton

@sipesthebest nah man, there’s like 6 potential pro-bowlers on that defense. The coaching is trash.

    sipesthebest

    @Remy Barton
“Potential”? Possibly, and right now, they are young and have to learn how to win, and that takes patience. The best coaches on Earth can’t solve the mistakes that young, unproven players are inevitably going to make.

Charles Cole

This defensive scheme is fatally flawed. Every opposing coaching staff sees it and takes advantages of it. With all the high draft picks the Defense has, this is truly embarrassing.

    Remy Barton

Joe Woods shouldn’t have kept his job after last season I think. I know our defense is RATED high, but we see how the scheming is holding them back every week. We saw it EVERY WEEK last year. This team has the talent to prevent opponents from getting more than 10 points per game and it’s not happening…

    John Smith

    Agreed!

    Jim Colbert

Scheme? Dont think one exists. Poorly coached without a leader on the field. vastly overrated group.

Gavin Keever

Elite players step up when their teams need them. Think back to the final play of last years super bowl…Aaron Donald

utoobuser101

Ouch! this one hurts. I have been supporting the Browns for 45 years. If I want to boo, I will boo.

    Edward Gaines

Especially if you’re paying money for all these tickets!

    David DeMaria

Garrett is lucky they didn’t throw garbage at them. Boos were more than deserved

datastorm

There’s four things this team does, and I’ve been a fan for 44 years, that they’ve always done that drive me absolutely nuts. And it doesn’t matter what the regime is, who the coaching staff is or even the owner or the GM. Those four things are 1. Blow insurmountable leads 2. Letting mediocre or first time facing unknown mediocre quarterbacks beat them 3. Can’t get off the field on 3rd down and long. 4. Lose games on special teams in the closing moments

    Jettibles LLC

Couldn’t agree more! + 5.ALWAYS folding in the 4th quarter. It doesn’t matter who’s on the team or who’s coaching the team smh

    Xenon

Joe Flacco still owns you even he’s on that hapless Jets lmao

    Robert Metzinger

Flaco isn’t just some no name to Cleveland he’s torched Cleveland anytime he’s faced us he’s owned us and now at his old age and he’s a washed up back up he still owns US

    Robert Metzinger

@FOF .Productions we gave up under 50 yards rushing today in under $225 yards passing so we do have a defense could definitely be top five top three maybe but not if you can’t finish there I’ve been bench warrant and call two guys up from the practice squad for the next game guys that want to play 100% and give it their all because those are two lazy guys in the secondary film don’t lie

    Betty Smith

That’s what the brownies do let us down and themselves Garrett you’re the leader you should have took over that is what super stars do clowney is hurt if the wind blows hard

Don’t Worry

He is doing the best he can man and killing it when he is in. But he cannot be the only guy putting on he weight on him. Also Clowney did the best he can. But you can tell the defensive pressure changed once he left for the game and shouldn’t be like that.

Khepra Ka-Re Amente Anu

They blew coverages in the defensive secondary all last year, leaving receivers running wide open for touchdowns or long yardage 3rd down plays. They did the same thing in the 1st game and almost lost. NOW THE SAME THING TODAY.  Someone needs to be benched and coaches need to be fired.

    Charles Edward

    Couldn’t agree more.

Robert Mccarthy

What are we supposed to cheer after a loss like that, that was a warranted boo

Eddie Fife

Takes 3 phases to win a game. Our defense and special teams lost this game. Missed xp, onside kick, defense giving up 17 in the second half. Joe Woods couldn’t call high school defense effectively

    Charles Edward

    Joe Woods gotta go.

Dustin Murphy

He made 1 play and took the rest of the game off too. Best defensive player my butt

    Tool Junkie

I couldn’t agree with you anymore. Watch him on run plays, he will take it easy. (im a Browns fan as well)

    Jim Colbert

Absolutely, this guy is invisible for most of the game. vastly overrated and full of himself.

    The Sonic Void

@Jim Colbert Wow, talk about clueless. The guy faces double and triple teams all game.

Connor Wilson

I paid good money for those tickets, and I know there’s a chance I’ll go to the game and they’ll lose. I can live with that. But blowing that lead with less than two minutes and the opposing team has no timeouts? Damn straight I’m gonna boo Myles. Take some responsibility as captain and fix your guys. I booed because I’ve seen this movie too many times and I’ve always hated how it ends

TheJenesis B

Can’t be disappointed in the fans, Myles. We show up every week. Sadly the defense doesn’t do the same. We’ll be there on Thursday too, will you?

Vince

The booing is more then justified… if these “players” took more accountability in their work we wouldn’t have the coverage issues we’re having, it’s unacceptable. People spend their hard earned money to watch millionaires play embarrassing football- by giving up a ridiculous lead to a far inferior team. You see better camaraderie on a Highschool field!
