@Martial Apologist The stat numbers mean nothing if they don’t translate to WINS. VY destroys MM in that category and thats the category we should be most worried about. Philip Rivers has amazing stats every year but he cant win playoff games. To hell with that!

@Mc Ren I’ve always wished he’d be a little more aggressive vocally, both with the team and media. It wouldn’t hurt for him to be more fiery and outwardly competitive.

For me, the biggest factor with this loss is that we’ve been fed this ‘good to great’ narrative all year, and a great team wouldn’t have lost to the colts – ESPECIALLY not like that. Since 2018 we’ve struggled with dropped passes. Rob Moore became our WR coach in 2018. from 2016-2018 we had the same O-Line starters. in 2016 we allowed 25 sacks. Russ grim was our OLine coach. 2017 we swap him for mike sullivan and the o line sucks, then we get keith carter for that position coach and it still sucks, and has sucked in the same way ever since.
THIS is where our problems are coming from.

I havent seen folks acting like that. Most people are just finally waking up and seeing the reality that Mariota is afraid in the pocket and is mediocre and lacks the ability to take this team anywhere. He’s given games away each season, the serious fans watching every game know that and yesterday was a breaking point for many of them and an awakening to many of the folks that kept blindly defending MM for no reason at all. Folks are just pissed they’ve been defending Mariota more multiple seasons in a row and he hasn’t changed at all even though the team around him on all sides has improved.

@Tornado Freaks Yeah, but they gave up big plays on defense. As a fan of the Buckeyes, I never thought Marcus was all that, but I have seen some great play out of him. But you might be right…

@Robert Fisk MM biggest problem is he has some amazing days them he has days like this. I’m getting tired of the back and forward with his play. MM doesn’t use his legs nearly enough. With the O-line struggling so much, he needs to make it a point to get out of the pocket sooner rather than later because his scrambling ability with allow for the receivers to get more open.

@Dee09 Motivation Now I wouldn’t say that! Marcus didn’t suck in those last 2 playoff games so that tells me he knows how to step his game up. Problem is we need more of that MM during the regular season.

@RotaryPerfection I would say that. Plus that playoff game he played badd for 3 quarters in that game. We won cause of team effort. He always plays bad. I can only think of like 6 or 7 games he’s had really good games. Come on bro. He’s played in the NFL for 4seasons this is his 5th.. that’s terrible.

No doubt he’s the best playmaker on that team – they have to get him the ball way more – even if it’s quick throws and let him break open.

Honestly I want to see at least 5 games, with Marcus healthy and the Oline healthy and the receivers we got. Just to see what he can do. We have had the worst timing and luck.

Yep! Marcus missed some check downs on two of those sacks and open targets due to him not going through his progressions on the plays he had time to scan the field. He has to be in the frame of mind that he needs to get rid of the football or get out of the pocket sooner than later because by the time he realizes the pocket is collapsing, it’s too late. I wish he would watch some tape of Vince Young because VY was an expert at feeling the pressure and getting the hell out dodge when he needed too.

Its not like he he doesnt have the mobilty…just freezes,again a betterline wouldo wonders…not much time on some of those.

@Thomas Cogdill O-line play is sub par right now but MM still needs to use his legs more to get out of danger sooner than later. He doesn’t feel the pressure soon enough to react and get out (or freezes as you said). This is the NFL and you cant be freezing like this especially in your 5th year. I’m not seeing any growth in pocket awarness and that’s a problem for me. MM is as mobile as guys like Vince Young and Steve Mcnair but he doesnt have their pocket awareness. I wish he did though!

True. OL coach, QB coach and WR coach are not very good.
