Great coach but needed a few good players to get over the hump. I remember the Raiders playoff game and they bullied the O line and sacked Pennington a few times.
Herm made too many emotional decisions instead of business decisions. The biggest is keeping Pennington when he just couldn’t throw the football anymore from the shoulder injuries. We all knew it, it was annoying hearing the announcers say ” pennington lofts it” and the safety play center field.
@Greg Conforti as a first round pick the Jets were heavily invested in Pennington. They should have invested in the Offensive line. They really had two good players in an old undersized Mawae and Kareem McKenzie

This was a fun watch. Loved Herm’s energy.
I think Herm Edwards had a hand in getting decent players to play above themselves. Aaron Beasley Reggie Tongue and Lito Shepherd come to my mind. He was a very good player so he can spot talent the same way John Lynch and Ozzie newsome can evaluate talent. Very very good coach who needed a about 5 good players for AFC title game. Doug Brien missed two kicks under 50 yards. The Jets are a truly sorry organization for letting edwards move to the chiefs for a Leon Washington pick.

Blame the Jets for not getting a better O line. Average at best. Sanchez had the perfect O line in his first 2 years. Big difference
