It was sad seeing him go down

I should never be reading Articles like this from PFF saying our Sixth rounder is better than our first rounder.

PICK NO. 7: DI DERRICK BROWN, CAROLINA PANTHERS
2020 overall grade: 56.6
With Ali Marpet again missing for Tampa Bay, there was an opportunity for Derrick Brown to have a big day against a reshuffled Buccaneers offensive line. It was an opportunity he did not seize, and in fact, he was outplayed by sixth-round rookie teammate Bravvion Roy. Brown was solid, but the chance was there for so much more. He tied a season-high for total pressures with four on 32 pass-rushing snaps.

Overall this season, Brown has done most of his damage against sub-standard offensive linemen, but he has shown a more consistent ability to apply pressure in recent weeks.

Burns is the only one that can get pressure

@AkaBenny And you assume Roy isn’t going to take a giant step in the improvement department? His unofficial combine is a hell of a lot better than Browns official NFL Combine. Roy ran a 4.91 in the 40 and had 33 reps at the bench on his Baylor Pro Day, while Brown ran a 5.17 40 and had 28 reps at the bench. Brown is never going to improve his speed, he has been slow as hell all the way back to HS when he ran a 5.3 on the 40 and still benched 28 reps that according to his 247 composite score. So Brown hasnt improved his strength or his speed since HS. And I am suppose to believe he is going to turn it on next year? PFF saying Roy is better than Brown is an embarrassment to Marty Hurney and a vindication for Matt Rhule for not wanting him. If you notice Brown plays less and Less and Roy is playing more and more. It wont be long before the media asks about Browns poor performances and his terrible PFF ratings. Considering we hired Rhule due to him being an analytics guy, you cant ignore the numbers. Brown has the worst PFF rating in run defense out of all DT starters, and a worst Run and Pass PFF than his backup Roy! You think Rhule is going to let that stand long term? His dude is Roy! He will give Roy every break possible to make the team and be a contributor because he knows what he has in him as a player and a person considering they went back to Baylor together. We dont know anything about Brown except he is consistently bad.

@Jkallday52 Roy had 2 pressures and Haynes had a couple too. I just think you truly need to look at the players body of work. The most consistent Dlinemen we have are Roy and Burns. You know what you get with those guys. The double team excuse is truly running out on Derrick Brown, according to PFF Roy had more doubles than Brown in that game. I think its time for the coaching staff to sit Brown aside and ask him what the hell is going on and if this is his best effort? I would also tell him he is getting outplayed by his sixth round backup. Then wrap it up with, we need to see more from you, we expect more from you.

    AkaBenny

@dustin barlow yes true Roy is stepping up and I wont be surprised if he gets the starting job but some players just need some time to adjust so if we dont see him stepping up in these next few games against easy o lines then idk he might be a backup

@AkaBenny Rhule is in a real Dilemma here, PFF takes out the emotion out of the argument. Its a simple Binary equation, either you are performing or you arent and the score reflects it. I think we give Brown every opportunity we can afford him this year, but next year is the end of the line. When PFF is saying that Roy is continually outplaying Brown, people will eventually start to ask questions, especially since Rhule is Analytic driven. The Analytics are saying Brown is having an awful year.

Man it’s been a hard few years being a panthers fan hope we can turn it around soon.

Brad Holt

We will be ok if we get a decent defensive coordinator if not it will be the same old thing year after year.

ENOUGH OF THE DERRICK BROWN SLANDER 🗣️

YOU COULD NEVER COMPARE B. ROY AN D. BROWN..
JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVEN’T SEEN IMMEDIATE RESULTS FROM A 22 YEAR YOUNG FELLA DOESN’T OBLIGATE YOU MORONS TO BELITTLE HIS EFFORTS ON THE FIELD… ANY GIVING DAY: ONE ON ONES; BURNS & BROWN ARE FAR MORE DOMINANT THAN ANYONE ON OUR ENTIRE LINE SO APPRECIATE THOSE YOUNG MEN ✊🏻💯
