Matt Rhule points out positives, areas of growth after Browns game – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Cameron Johnson Racing

We were running high school level plays in the first half

Murk N

Luckily the Browns are probably the best rushing attack we will face all season, so our swiss cheese run defense has time to improve.

    DeepFried CherryPie

Best rushing attack in the league

    Daniel McCall

    Saquon is gonna do well

    Levi

    Healthy Saquan next week

    DeepFried CherryPie

Saquan isn’t as good as Chubb. He’s probably comparable to Hunt. The Giants OL isn’t as good as the Browns either.

    Craig Silver

Saquon Barkley has entered the chat

who dunit

The Panthers run D is terrible but the OL is worse. They played hard but Cleveland is just better up front on both sides of the ball. Baker had no time to throw and they couldn’t run the ball. I’m surprised they were able to come back and almost win it.

    Sportzz Storyzz

Browns rushing attack just really good

    J T

We can run the ball we just don’t bother trying because our coach is stupid.

Robert Patterson

He just cannot admit that coaching lost this game

    Griffin Ellison

The refs lost us that game. They handed that game to the browns on a silver platter through incompetence. Panthers won that game according to the actual rules of football

    Robert Patterson

@Griffin Ellison to a point you are correct. However: they should of ran the ball more in the first half and should of went for the TD at the end of the game.

    Silly Willy

Oh yeah buddy…. You’re the expert

    2kgod

Couldn’t agree more.. we gotta get cmc involved like how they use Chubb

Will Smith

This guy will never get it, This the 3rd straight year where he has maybe the worse oline and dline combo in the league. If you can’t dominate in the trenches you won’t win in the nfl this aint goofy college football

    mrgwclips

    Talk 🔥

    J T

our Dline is not that bad.

Spartan Ghost

I wish Rhule would answer these reporters without trying to justify every reason. I love how Snow answers the reporters lol

ChristianUNCC

You know, not being cliche, but you HAVE to establish the run early to be able to pass… That 1st half was very non-carolina like in terms of how we usually win… The Panthers WIN by running the ball, chewing the clock, and playing solid defense. We need to get back to our ways.

    SGSavitar

@Fayettenom26 So you want to rely on are QB’s we have right now to be always throwing the ball 😂. That’s why they are saying run because they are talking realistically not unrealistic. Get real man

    Fayettenom26

@SGSavitar I am being realistic. I’m not saying not be balanced because winning playoff football requires for you to be able to run the football. What I’m saying is that for years Carolina never had one of those offenses where the QB threw for over 350 yrds and 4 tds every game like Breez, Manning, Rodgers, and Brady! The fans of the panthers will never probably see this happen but I would love for it to happen!

    Terrence Tate

I agree we need that 2015 and 2017 energy again

    Fayettenom26

@W.A.N.T Coalition✊🏿 and haven’t won anything that way! It’s time to change! It’s a passing league now!

Glaciarboy

I know we gotta keep cmc healthy but he needs more than 10 rush attempts

    Jeremiah Cunningham

13-15 rush and 4-5 targets would be good

Craig Silver

We won’t get anywhere with Matt Rhule. So many questionable decisions. Guy is in over his head in the NFL. We ran the ball like 7 times or something in the first half

    Andrew Thomas

10 times total for the entire game

John Minkey

Baker showed moments of brilliance honestly I’m not sure any quarterback in the league could’ve looked much better behind that awful offensive line it’s going to be a long season defense cannot stop the run you’re not gonna win mini rain games in the NFL looking like that Matt Rhule seems like a nice guy just not enough talent on this one

Fayettenom26

He should of played the starters more during the preseason!

    Phillip Shadid

No kidding. “First time we’ve played”… uhhhhh.. You had the whole prseason…

AW

If the Panthers lose another “should win” game next week, this guy needs to go.

    Mike Turner

Should win ? Browns were up the whole game . If Watson played y’all would have lost by 20

    birmingham_cane

This was a bad hire period

    AW

@birmingham_cane I agree. I would hate to see the talent on this team go to waste because of the head coach.

    J T

@Mike Turner If Matt Rhule wasn’t too busy preserving McCaffrey for next season the Panthers would of blown away the Browns from the start.

    D Flatt

@J T My biggest fear as a Brown’s fan going into Sunday was Carolina using CMC early, establishing the run, than seeing Baker roll out off play-action (which IS a thing he is actually good at). Rhule played right into Stefanski’s hands though. Anyway, GG and good luck the rest of the season. Sometimes luck is tough though.

Dcox20

Has a chance to score a touchdown, nah let’s kick a field goal and give them a minute and half to be able to beat us. Great coaching by Matt once again.

    J

Playing not to lose gets you beat every time. The soft zone coverage on the final drive was abhorrent. Granted they did run d so one zone blitz but this coverage allows teams to move down the field. Anything at the 50 and in is in range for todays kickers. Rhule just coaches scared. Same crap over and over again

    John Brooks

That’s what front office wanted for some reason. Get rid of a tough, take chances kind of guy…for soft and scared guy with zero experience at this level

Quincy Spielberger

Rhule just can’t coach at this level. He was an AWESOME college level coach. Tepper is just expecting WAY too much from him and he will never admit he’s over his head. You can’t expect professionallevel players to respect a college level coach. Rhule should be a coordinator and THEN a professional coach.

    John Brooks

Nick saban is a perfect example. Some guys aren’t made to coach grown men that are millionaires. Should have never signed him to anymore than a couple years

Backyard Escapes

New transport from Cleveland here, but just peaking in fresh looks like Coach is in over his head.. Not sure why they didnt bring him in as a coordinator or something,, great college coach but looked pretty conservative.. and my god if its a terrible call by a ref call it out. Don’t worry about getting in trouble. Other than that.. the defense seems about as solid as the offense showed at times.. just sputtered a bit but a ton of upswing. Gonna be a good season i think once things smooth out. Go Panthers!

David Dickerson

Despite Baker’s first half being rough, I’m still very proud of him and the team.

19th Dynasty

This still was the best game of the season so far

Mr.Boombastic

When you’re 10-23 in your last 2 seasons, and you start your 3rd season looking like the previous 2 seasons, then Rhule and Snow need to go. Get a more qualified head coach and staff, that’ll get more free agents to sign here, and go from there. I always said Matt Rhule was a horrible pick as head coach, so far, I stand correct. He honestly didn’t beat anyone in college on a constant basis, and he just doesn’t get it as a head coach. Get him gone.

    Fruws

Snow had our Defense at 2nd rank last year I personally think the guy has a bunch of new guys to work with so they have time to improve but I 100% agree Rhule needs to go

    Mr.Boombastic

@Fruws True indeed. Only reason why I said that about Snow, during one of his press conferences, he went on a rant about being 9th in the league in run defense last year. Don’t get me wrong, 9 out of 32 is very good. But honestly, I want us to be great in that stat. Make teams one dimensional, because you open up the playbook when you get the run game going as a offense. Make them pass against us. That’s what they did to us. I want a coach who’ll make us top 3 or better in that stat, I believe Snow can do it, he’s a good coordinator, we just have to see it at some point

Andy Bales

For the 1st game of the year w/ a new QB against a really good D, that’s an acceptable loss…let’s be real, 90% of the time a 60 yd FG won’t split the uprights…great kick by the rookie…this team will get better weekly, IF they stay healthy
