Cassel completed 4-of-6 passes for 47 yards in relief of the injured Christian Ponder Thursday against Washington. Ponder separated his left shoulder while diving for the end zone in the third quarter.
Cassel really didn’t need to pass, as the Vikings had stormed back to take the lead after trailing by 13 points. As such, he handed the ball off efficiently. He was nearly as flawless as Ponder was when he had to throw, and appears in line to start in Week 11 at Seattle should Ponder sit.
