Mario Manningham’s Fantasy Trade Value, Updated Outlook After Week 10

For the first time this season, wide receiver Mario Manningham took the field for the San Francisco 49ers. In his return to NFL action, Manningham led the team in targets, receptions and receiving yards.

The question is, what does this mean for Manningham‘s fantasy football value moving forward?

Manningham had three receptions for 30 yards on six targets, with a 14-yard reception marking the high-point of his day. This comes during a game in which the 49ers tallied 91 passing yards.

Regardless of how well he produced, it was a pleasant sight to see Manningham back on the field.

#49ers WR Mario Manningham is also active for the first time since last December.

Moving forward, Manningham is certain to become a critical part of the Niners offense.

Manningham had 42 receptions for 449 yards and a touchdown in 12 appearances during the 2012 regular season. He was second on the team in receptions and third in receiving yards, and that shouldn’t change in 2013.

Will you start Mario Manningham moving forward?

Will you start Mario Manningham moving forward?

  • Yes. Manningham is reliable.

  • No. Manningham cannot be trusted for consistent production.

  • It depends on the matchup.

Unfortunately, being a vital member of the team’s offense doesn’t mean he’ll be a reliable fantasy football receiver.

Colin Kaepernick has topped 200 passing yards in just two of the Niners’ first nine games. He has just three games with at least two passing touchdowns and four outings with zero passing scores.

For that reason, you shouldn’t even consider putting Manningham in your starting lineup until he proves capable of putting forth consistently strong numbers.

Some will be looking to trade or acquire the 27-year-old, but his value isn’t high enough to warrant that consideration. Manningham is a flex option, but he’s also a player who’s playing in a run-heavy offense that hasn’t received consistent production at quarterback.

Unless you’re desperate, do nothing but monitor Manningham.
