Todd Bowles put all the pressure on the defense instead of having the brains to score points. It was foolish play calling and strategy all day long and that’s what we’ve seen all year. Ridiculous coaching and management of this franchise. The antithesis of the New England Patriots.
The way Bowles managed the play clock at the end of regulation is actually the same way the Patriots handled it at the end of Super Bowl 49, right before Malcolm Butler’s interception. Go back and take a look — New England had timeouts and the clock was running under a minute, but Belichick didn’t take a timeout because he didn’t want to give the Seahawks a chance to discuss their play call. It’s the same reasoning Bowles gave.
The only difference is that it worked in one case and didn’t work in the other. Belichick would’ve gotten attacked the same way if the Seahawks would’ve scored.
There is definitely a different philosophy this year than last year. This year seems to be all about not losing games, whereas last year was all about beating teams and winning games. Not sure if that is a result of the HC being a defense minded HC or if there is an issue with the OC’s play calling, or some combination of those two things plus the depleted O-line??
Not to mention on that 4th and 2 on the Browns side of the field Leftwich plain as day, without covering his mouth, told Brady no, no, no, don’t snap it.
