Losing Brandon Staley was the single biggest loss of the offseason, much bigger than the loss of any single player. There’s no doubt Morris isn’t going to be able to duplicate what Staley did but he’s still been dealt a pretty loaded hand so hopefully, he won’t mess things up too badly. On talent alone, the Rams should still be a top 10 defense and if Morris knows anything about what he’s doing they should still be able to finish in the top 5.

I don’t think Siciliano has the ability to evaluate a given situation. The 49ers are one year removed from the Super Bowl. Their roster is built to compete THIS year. Throwing in a rookie QB who didn’t play much at a D2 school is the equivalent of throwing away the season. Lance may have all the physical talent in the world but playing at North Dakota State didn’t prepare him for reading the disguised complex defenses the NFL is going to throw at him and playing in the limited number of games he did during his career there didn’t do him any favors. It just set him even further behind. As a Rams fan, it’s in our interest for the 49ers to play him earlier so I hope the fans clamor for him and create an outside pressure to put him on the field prematurely. However, the 49ers aren’t a stupid organization. They know the score. They’re going to play Garoppolo as much as they can or until he gets injured because as soon as he can’t suit up, their playoff chances go WAY down. So, aside from a few “packages” I wouldn’t expect Lance to play unless Garoppolo gets injured or until the 49ers are mathematically eliminated from any playoff hopes which by the looks of their roster isn’t very likely.

If we get all the right pieces in place, this will be a very special year for us. Rams fan since 1956. GO RAMS!
