Even though we lost this team is completely different
@abhay naik it doesnβt matter, those guys will not be on this team. If we wanted to win, we keep our starting O-Line in there all game.

Only looking a the 1’s in the first drives, it looks like the offense will be amazing, but the defense still needs work.

I think the defense was making sure not to show the Eagles how they’ll treat a mobile QB. Falcons QBs were scrambling for big gains all night.

Stop it. Thereβs no super secret plays. The Lions just switched schemes to accommodate drafting a 43 DE in Hutchinson. They want to build a 43 around the guy, clearly, which will take several years.
Theyβre legitimately bad.
The only thing I have to say is that blough should be no. 2 on the depth chart at qb

@Ki11a TJ I say there’s a quarterback to sign before the regular season starts that’s cut that is a true second string quarterback to hold the clipboard and watch and go in if anything happens that we can sign that is better than both of them
@Jake Contos not with the first freaking pick there’s better Talent on the defense that we need we don’t know need no stinking quarterback from Ohio State or Alabama or some guy from Kentucky you just has a big arm look at what the Texans got he’s suitable to be a backup and look where they got him

Final score aside, the offense looked good tonight, Kennedy looks to be vying for more PT, looked pretty reliable. Defense needs to work on pursuit and tackling but I’m sure the coaches will be preaching that come practice.

For a preseason game I think it showed how much improvement the Lions have made since last year. And even though Blough had that mistake I think he was pretty solid and you can tell his teammates trust him. Makes me excited for the real season to start. π¦π

The biggest think we will need all year is staying within ourselves and not try to do too much and not think too far ahead. We control what we can one week at a time and trust each other and we will be fine! One of those guys will get cut which is why they both made mistakes. They were both trying to prove they should be here when they shouldβve just went out there do their jobs with no regrets leave it all out there.
@tomrogue13 yep turnovers happen but it looks like they both made strides for improvement over just sitting comfortably making decent money but low compared to the NFL. I think Goff is more than better than developing recievers.
@Big Mike Yeah I agree they need to slow it down to avoid mistakes. But one wonβt necessarily get βcutβ. We had both as backup quarterbacks last year. Theyβre just fighting for that no.2 spot. We will see whoβs a better a better backup in the next two preseason games.
That’s just the offensive side the linebackers n defense tackles leave a lot to be desired

Defense needs to work on playing assignment sound football. Nobody understood how to set the edge, and there were too many times open tacklers were running away from the ball carrier.
Barnes and Rodriguez have the speed to be good LBβs, and Harris can be a good edge. They all need to work on on-feild awareness, too many times they were unaware of where the ball carrier was, or what their assignment was.
McNeil was fine. Hopefully having Onwurzike and Paschall can help this interior

I liked what I saw in Jared Goff and our offense in their only drive. Tim Boyle played the best I have seen him play yet. Way to drive the ball down the field and converting. This is promising coming from our QB2 and second team offense.
We got added depth to our quarterback room and offense. Defense made plays and can continue to grow and develop.
Lions are looking better this week 1 exhibition preseason game than last week 1 preseason.

Boyle was terrible, made 2 good throws and looked out of sync and timid. Terrible out of the pocket. If something happens to Goff, were screwed. Go Lions
I wasn’t able to watch the game since I was working, but they look remarkably better than last year
Goff is in a system where he is fully supported. The coaches and GM want him there. They believe in him. And the Lions have enough weapons to spread the ball around. OL is the strength of this team along with the WRs. Itβs a very QB-friendly squad right now. As long as they can run the ball consistently and the RBs stay healthy, this offense will put up points. My focus is on the linebacker group.

@YungAcorn Matt p was good at defence , not sure why he calling offence, just nepotism to be honest, bill and son, the defence has been at its worst since Steve starting calling plays.. just awful, love the team chemistry from lions, pats feel forced

I see you Kennedy he definitely deserves a spot in the wide outs. He contributed last year as well. I liked what I saw besides the fumble.
I was at the game. Kennedy had a great game
I liked Aidan Hutchinson out of college but I never got premium NFL pass rush vibes until he immediately got a TFL and Atlanta started double teaming him.
A tackle for loss and a holding penalty so that’s almost 15 yards of disruption that he caused and didn’t he get a sack too
@Jon kapler He didnt get a sack, but it seemed like he was still getting pressure on almost every play. the only thing i saw that aidan needed to work on was containing the qb, because he was consistently too far inside and allowed Mariota and Ridder to rush all over them. Still, seeing him get pressure like that is refreshing to see on this defense.
@tonystark I think he’ll learn contain pretty quickly, one of the things I’ve notcied about him is how quick he learns, adjusts, and picks up new things. So while I’m concerned for the next several games, he’ll have it down a few games into the regular season I bet.
first offense looks very very tight. which they should they are the most paid offense in the league.
Iβve been saying for months- Iβm not remotely concerned about Goff. Heβs about to have a very good year.
Does that mean weβll make the playoffs? Maybe not
Does that mean heβll prove to be our franchise QB? Iβm not sure
But I do know weβre going to look a lot better on offense and it wonβt be in-spite of him- heβll be a big contributor.
For those who say they want DJ Metcalf we have a guy like that in our newly found tight end the former Wolverine he’s got them hands he’s got that size you don’t always got to have that speed that’s a matchup nightmare

Add TJ Hockenson, Jameson Williams to that offense (and keep Tom Kennedy!). Wish we could have seen more of the starting defense, but I know the LB positions aren’t settled yet. Gotta say Rodriguez looked great, and honestly so did Jared Davis and Barnes, although Barnes still had some poor plays.
Can’t wait to see that defense with Josh Paschal and Romeo Okwara in there.
