WHYYYYYYYY??????? Will go down as one of the worst trades in Giants history based on picks given up and the salary dished out to a decent player being paid like a superstar. This move is only to satiate Gettleman’s ego. Williams knew he had Giants over a barrel because Gettleman didn’t want egg over his face so he rightfully tried to stick up the Giants for as much cash as he could. Unable to come up with a deal Giants franchised him. 👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
I don’t want to argue but I think Williams is a great player
@Comment roasts Based on what metric????? Great???? I dunno perhaps we have differing opinions on great. To top it off defensive tackle is actually a point of strength (relatively speaking on a poor defensive unit) and youth on the Giants. Getting Williams was to be overly redundant and Giants will more than likely lose a solid, younger, cheaper tackle in Giants draft pick Tomlinson. Unless Williams suddenly starts actually racking up double digit sacks and not just pressures I don’t see ANY reason to be spending such a large part of the salary cap on him. This defense needs a LOT of help the money he makes could’ve been spent on 2-3 other players or used to retain players that will now walk.

I think that was the good thing to do bc he is good he gives are defense more pressure go big blue 💙
Not a fan of this move, but at least it’s not a long term contract that’ll eat up cap space for the next few seasons.

Get rid of him now. Zero sacks, he couldn’t stop the run, and as for pressure on the QB, he was inconsistent at best. Mostly a non factor. Get rid of this halfway decent player, and focus on good players. The acceptance of mediocrity has to end.

Maybe get Michael Strahan and Justin Tuck to coach/work with him? Also on paper the deal makes sense since Giants have cap space to make a one year deal where if they don’t long term sign him they will have gotten a player who contributed for a few games to see if he does reach his potential as well as to show other teams interested so we can recoup 2 future 1st round picks for a 3rd and 4-5th. If this was an Exclusive tag then maybe a different story but hope things work out either way.
