James’ new role as the 49ers’ primary return man has boosted his fantasy value tremendously in leagues that score points for return yards. However, he doesn;t see much, if any at all, work on the offense, so unless there’s an injury in the backfield, his value will remain limited.
Should the 49ers continue to win games, there is definitely a chance that James sees an increased role, however, Kendall Hunter is still blocking his path. Don’t expect much from the former Oregon back right now, but fantasy owners in keeper leagues are going to want to keep him around.
