Defense could play better when they allow so many 4th down conversions

    CCmuscleman21

I hope that doesn’t become a trend with other teams. That was embarrassing.

    Jake Schneider

Our defense was the reason we won they gave our offense so many chances and the kept crapping the bed but came up clutch in the end

    xav will

@Paul D. Being good on 3rd down does not entail being bad on 1st or 2nd since it says nothing about the frequency of 3rd downs. No one noted how often the vikings were in 3rd or 4th and short situations which is more important than whether we held up in those opportunities because that’s not a sustainable recipe for success

    Paul D.

@xav will thank you Einstein for the word salad. No one made mention of frequency but you in the last comment. I was being facetious about the downs. If you didn’t like my reply, not my problem. It happens to everyone. Move along.

Keith Oltmans

Defense in the A and B gaps need a lot of work. But hey, 2-0 in the division.

PotatoVikings

We shouldn’t put the breaks on JJ just to use Cook, Theilen, Osborn, and Mundt.

We might need to switch back to a 4-3 defense, we are getting no pressures with Hunter and ZSmith.

    Sparkly Wiggles

@Connor May they held GB to 7 and the following 2 teams scored 24. In what world is that “terrible”?

    Shmoe Joedesy

@Avon Barksdale lmao 🤣🤣 thats all he says, i see him comment this on so many comment sections.

    dan danielson

@Anthony Lamb the offense shouldn’t have to score 30+ points a game to win.

    Jack Worthington

@Travis G Lions have the best o line in the league

Donald Verhota

Love how Kevin adjusted
While the second half unfolded. Great win, In KOC I trust

    HiM

Every game we’ve played we’ve come out stronger in the second half, whatever he’s doing at half is working!

Barbara Dahl

Give Kevin OConnell another chance at winning games for the Minnesota Vikings skol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Florence Dahl

Way to go Kevin O’Connell and the Vikings Skol

Ethan Griffith

I’m with everyone that desires an improved run defense and a more high powered offense but let’s remember, a win is a win. This is a first time new head coach with a young roster, we need to be patient.

    Donald Verhota

    FYI aimed at mike

    Aric Stradtmann

@Donald Verhota tf the lynx gotta do with our defense not playing good and when the lynx get a multi trillion dollar stadium and fail to win when it counts than we can talk about the lynx but the Vikings and twins got new stadiums because the bitched and cried and threatened to leave us and when was the last time the twins got past the first round in the playoffs in target field and the Vikings haven’t won in the playoffs like don’t throw a fit for a new stadium and all that to not win like all that money could have been used to go to cancer research or aids or whatever but it went to y’all so do something worhbit

Andy Eaton

KOC is great at owning his mistakes and being accountable. But he’s also the head coach, so he needs to light a fire under Ed Donatell this week, because with exception to the last 10 minutes of the game… our defense looked pathetic, again. Zero Pressure. Wide open receivers. We basically play a prevent defense all game… it’s not aggressive at all. Sure, we might get burned a couple times when sending guys, but when you’re playing defense and watching the opposing offense March down the field on every drive, it’s demoralizing. The fans are the reason we won that game at the end… SKOL! Helluva a gritty win.

James Ruark

Good teams find ways to win even when they do not play their best.

Rico Thompson

Great full for a team win! There’s no doubt that this team has some work to do on both sides of the ball. Our run defense is where EVERY opponent we face this year is going to try to exploit, we got to get better there. The dbs are young (except PPAT) and growing each week. All of our 3 and outs on offense this season so far is unacceptable we got to be better!! Guess what though??? 😮 This team knows that!! This head coach knows that!! We will get this together, it’s only week 3!! There’s a long way to go and I KNOW that this team grew a learned a lot about each other today in an ugly win!! Yes it was after all a WIN!! 2-1!!! SKOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!’

    Ricky Fontaine

It’s tough learning a new offense and defensive scheme especially without preseason reps it’ll come with time if we can at least be 4-2 by the bye week I think it’ll be better then what we are seeing and I’m still impressed especially with the culture

mega77CHAVEZ

The most important thing obviously is getting the win. That said, this is NOT a playoff defense. They look soft and slow. They might want to get Asamoha and Evans out there more.

Brydon Lawson

I like that they went to some man on defense we need to get our guys closer to the ball. Good comeback win

Adolfo Flores

He’s holding himself accountable for Jefferson’s performance.. what a great leader. Love KOC

    6ftMouse

JJ can’t catch the ball right now.
Dude needs to stop doing commercials and catch the fucken ball.
He’s my favorite player right now, but he’s underperforming

    ksmooth8787

@6ftMouse you have no idea how this game works !!!

    IT Guy

@6ftMouse I was thinking the same thing. Dropping balls.

    SirRuan Beats🎵

    @IT Guy 🤦

    WM

Football is a team sport. If JJ has to play diversion so AT and KJ “Mr. 4th Quarter” Osborn can get open and score, so be it!

Ryan Albertson

I always appreciate his outlook. Optimistic but realistic and a ton of accountability.

Ryan Daley

I’m very thankful to be 2-1 through three games. Lots of things to improve upon. Next week it will be important to come away with another W. SKOL Vikings!

    Linda Leseman

Brand new and getting all the new ways figured out but great coaching, great players, great team

N D

Don’t know that we deserved to win that game and we can thank Campbell for making it possible.but a win is a win!

Comba__Womba

Any reason Cine didn’t get much playing time? Thought it would be a perfect opportunity for him to start.

Ryan Mitchell

Great comeback win Vikes. Way to persevere under severe adversity. Down 14-0 before half to tie it. Should of had another opportunity for a FG before half. (Refs fault)Then came back from down 24-14 to get a late game win. Holy cow this was a nail biter. The old Vikings under zimmer would of lost this game. We could all sense it. This was a classic divisional rival showdown! The momentum changed so many times. I felt like I was on a roller coaster! This is what the love of football is all about though!!! It’s never going to be to easy to win in the NFL. You take each week for what it is and learn from the mistakes. Home field advantage definitely helped today. Coach KOC has this team and state believing again! Love to see the fire and passion he brings to this hungry franchise that has been starving for a SB. The lions are a good team. Don’t get it twisted. Goff is no sloth 🦥 He did bring the Rams to the SB. There we’re many factors that affected this game. Both teams were banged up at different positions. The Vikings have a far superior offense as far as weapons imo, the lions have a very good coaching staff and a solid defense. ST Brown is going to be a great wide receiver for the lions for a long time. Give credit to the lions where it’s due. If this game was played in Detroit it might’ve been a different scenario. Their franchise has came along ways the last few years. I am curious to see what’s going to happen with Dalvin Cook. At the time the injury looked worse than how he was acting on the sideline afterwards. I think the reason everyone’s not freaking out right now it’s because we’re all anxious and curious to see how Alexander Madison could do given a full work load. ESP after proving himself in the past. Also the Vikings are stacked at the third and fourth running back position. As the game was going on I was also thinking about how convenient it is that the Vikings went to go grab another quarterback to secure the back up position. If cousins were to get hurt it makes me feel a lot more comfortable to get a proven back up, Instead of having Mond or Mannion as a wildcard. I noticed every time cousins would make a bad throw or miss a receiver he would always come back with a good throw to make up for it. That’s the sign of a good quarterback. I don’t care what anyone says cousins is our guy and is getting better, KOC has instilled a lot of confidence into him and you can tell he’s taking chances this year instead of getting swallowed up in the pocket. I’d much rather have him take chances and maybe get a few more interceptions than watch him curl up into a ball and get sacked with that scared confusing look on his face that drives us all crazy. I also feel like the defense really needs to improve. Hunter and Za’Darius Smith did not get much pressure today. Although the lions have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Again give them credit where it’s due. The Vikings were exposed in the secondary as well. I’m curious to know why our first round pick Lewis Cine has not seen the field much. I trust that our coaches know what they’re doing, especially after how the game ended the way it did on an interception by the guy that took Harrison Smith spot because of injury. The coaches know what they’re doing. The linebackers played great today. Hicks looked very fresh. I was also impressed by Patrick Peterson‘s performance. He did get away with a few calls, but I think the refs were letting the WRs and CBs go out at a little bit considering what happened with the Thielen on the 4th down play that almost cost us the game. The Vikings did get some calls to go their way, so we can’t complain to much. overall, the Vikings pulled out a big win and a divisional game. I feel a lot better going 2-1 than 1-2. We have a lot of things to work on, but for now we should be content with the win. #Skol Vikes

I’ve been a Vikings fan since 1962. No matter what, I have stood by through everything. I pray that before I leave this world, that my Vikings win the super bowl. Never seen a game in person, but maybe one day……

main thing I loved about KOC in this press conference: I wanted to score a TD, I wanted to win this game. Love the aggressiveness.
