The defense isn’t just giving up “Yards”, the defense has given up nearly 30 “Points” per game the last 5 games. That’s not giving your team a chance to win. Move Donatell out of that position and put in Mike Pettine

@glenn yoder actually if we’re being honest, we have Stars on our defense as well. Players that are pro-bowlers and former all-pro players, and their talent is being wasted with bad defensive play calling and schemes.. Pettine might not be the best but he for sure would be a upgrade to what we have now. If we’re looking to make a run at all in the playoffs, adjustments and changes MUST be made. Without question. Otherwise we will show people we’re just “pretenders” and be one and done in the play offs and our team is better than that.

Probably too late into the year to make that change. Donatell has to change his approach though, mainly be being more aggressive. First off, blitz more. They’re not getting pressure with 4. They have to send more pressure. Secondly, the corners need to stop playing 8-10 yards off all the damn time. 3rd and 4? Let’s put the CB’s 8 yards off the line. And if they give up big plays, so be it. Right now, they’re just sitting back and giving up big plays. At least TRY to make an aggressive play on defense.
When you have high expectations a 32nd rank Defense in yards isn’t acceptable. Points looking awful too averaging 30 last 5 games.

Donatell doesn’t put his players in positions to win. Hunter is no longer a pass rusher, Donatell made him into a linebacker. Hit man should be playing baseball, Donatell made him into a centerfield. If you are right handed , Donatell wants you to be left handed. He needs to go.

KOC – I’m calling BS on the reason for negative yards on Delvins runs – that was happening when we had all four starters – Look at our 3 losses – what is common? Negative yard plays – screens and runs – the offensive line is the key or is it Delvins jump cuts and dancing and juking…As a defender I love it when a running backs feet leave the ground.
The metric isn’t yardage. The defense is giving up land plots, i.e. acreage. There was less acreage involved in the Louisiana Purchase.

Nah man JJ carried the haul as usual but Hockenson, and Thielen showed up too. Osborn had a few nice ones and the TD on the drive JJ’s was called back. Those 4 were the bright spots that showed up.
As an offensive minded coach, I’d like to hear how he would feel about going against our defense. I bet he would be licking his chops.

Defensive meetings need to start with a film roll of every first down and big play given up and scoring drive against us pointing out every mistake and who or what needs changed. Defense needs to be fast and physical to work but you’re not wearing anyone out playing 7yds off the receiver and dropping your best rushers into coverage. Take hicks out and put someone faster there for coverage plays
One way you might want to make a turn with the defence. Is not play the Defensive backs 10 yds off the ball on 3rd and 7. And maybe not give up a first down on 3rd and 25 or 3rd and 31 like they did against the Jets.

No. That onside kick was a big mistake. 81% of the time the offense recovers the ball and wins the game. Kick the ball deep and let the defense try to stop them. After the onside kick the Vikings stopped them and forced a FG so they could have stopped if he wouldn’t have kicked the onside kick. That decision cost the Vikings a possible chance to tie the game.
The biggest problem is that Hunter and Z arent rushing the edges anymore. They are dropping into coverage. Thats not playing to their strenghts. I dont see why Donatell cant see this.
KOC is a smart man. He knows deep down what’s wrong with this team. He might not say it out loud but he knows.

The fact that we didn’t draft Jordan Davis or get Linval Joseph or Ndamukong Suh in free agency I believe shows a lack of attention to detail because look at the Eagles run defense. STACKED ON D-LINE. Such a shame. We really should’ve tried to build up our defense just a little bit. Honestly we maybe should’ve traded Adam Thielen or Dalvin Cook to to get some cap space and then pick up some free agents. Too little too late we got work baby
