I think the Bills need to ignore their own press. Everyone’s predicting — sorry before I write it — a Super Bowl trophy. Thing is, weird stuff happens on the way to February. I think if the Bills avoid key injuries — knock on wood — and they just treat the season like a marathon and not a sprint, they should be fine. So to me this first game against the Rams, while probably being entertaining, is being overhyped. It’s only about six percent of the season and a season is neither won nor lost generally on one game. But whichever team had the homefield in this game would probably be favored by the oddsmakers and it would be a pick-‘em on a neutral field, although I haven’t checked the spread yet. I am looking forward to the game though and I want to see how Josh does against their defense. (I just checked the spread and Buffalo is a 1.5-point road favorite. That’s interesting since the Rams won the Super Bowl. But it means the Bills would be around 4.5 point favorites or better at home.)
