Story at the time goes that Josh always wanted to be a Panther and made that very clear but.. He also wanted to get paid! Ya can’t blame him… We all know what the letters NFL stand for… (Not For Long) What sent him down the road was a pissing contest between Gettleman and Josh’s agent. Gettleman put the franchise tag on him and Josh’s agent decided it would be good to shop him around… Washington offered him a big bag and a long term contract, so Josh’s agent tried to use that as leverage for more $$$ and to obtain a long term contract that year rather than the following year. At that point a pissed off Gettleman rescinded the tag and left Josh had no choice… Washington was a dumpster fire on 4 flat tires back then and they expected him to turn that team around. (They ruined Josh within 2 years and has struggled to be that player he was when he was with us) He never wanted to leave the Panthers… His heart was always here! Sadly, Gettleman and his tactics/ego screwed over a lot of our outstanding veterans… Just ask “The Great One #89
