Uh… I’m not even a Bills fan but the guy has 65.2% Completion Percentage, 4,084 Passing Yards 40 total TDs, 34 passing TDs and 12 INTs behind a below average Oline with no solid RB1 aside from himself…. I think that’s pretty damn good and I think that’s pretty damn accurate. He’s also on pace to make this his best QB year even though he had an excellent 2020 season.

I shouldn’t have to explain this to anyone, but yet here you are without any context in your completely uninformed comment. You don’t know how the game of professional football works which means you definitely don’t understand the concept of the many different positions within the game, especially in the trenches. Go read the rest of my comment so you can gain some knowledge and understanding as to why Arthur Smith was 100% correct with what he said and why you are 100% incorrect with your embarrassing comment.

Mayfield is a rookie, 3rd round draft pick who was drafted as a developmental player who wasn’t supposed to start this season.

Mayfield was drafted out of Michigan as a RT. He had played at the RT position for his entire football life. He was even put at Right Tackle during the offseason, in camp and he was going into the preseason behind McGary at RT.

The Falcons starting Left Guard, Josh Andrews, was injured in a team practice during week 1. Since Gono was already out with a neck injury, the only option for the starting Left Guard spot was Jalen Mayfield. As a result, Mayfield was thrown into the starting LG spot just 5 days before the Eagles game.

He had NEVER played LG in his entire life. So he not only had to move from the right side of the line to the left, he also had learn how to play a brand new position for the first time. At this point in time, he has still ONLY played 14 games at LG in his entire life.

So yes, of course he’s going to improve in year 2. That is his position now and he is going to perfect his blocking ability with an entire offseason to better himself. He’s not even the team’s worst graded offensive lineman this year.
