@LilBoyConnor That Lions team was completely devoid of talent. Two years ago, he was the linebacker coach of the #1 ranked Rams defense and helped undrafted free agent Cory Littleton become a pro bowler just like he turned Campbell into a pro bowler last year. The guy knows how to coach. But this soft defense is baffling. A lot of teams in the NFL are running it now cuz theyre terrified of the big play. I can understand it if youre playing the Chiefs, but against the giants and the patriots? I dont get it. To me, theres an even bigger issue here than just Barry. For years and years this team has, for the most part, ignored the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. The run game has been an afterthought and the run defense has been nonexistant. And this is going back over a decade. It seems the organizational approach has been to cheat the system by only focusing on the pass and pretending running the ball doesnt exist. Until that changes, it wont matter whos coaching.
If Lafleur has to tell Barry multiple times every year to be aggressive, press or whatever, shows this guy shouldn’t be allowed to coach period. He should be able to understand this stuff himself by analyzing his defense. He’s clueless

They are using Douglas wrong, that’s why I blame the coaches not the player.

Yes, we could move Douglas outside and move Alexander to the Slot like the Rams use Ramsey. Douglas is a bigger, tall Corner. He is excellent covering big outside possession receivers. Basically, the #2 Wr. Stokes needs to be able to handle the Wr. 1 on an Island for this positioning to work. I don’t know about moving Savage to the Slot. He has the speed, but has been very uneven this season. You want your best players on the field. Taking one of our starting corners out of the base defense and putting in Bush at Safety, isn’t sticking to the best players on the field philosophy.
He’s a nice guy, but you’re not winning a super bowl with this guy as your DC. Playing quarters coverage 75% of the time isn’t beating anybody
Joe sure says an aweful lot of “UMs” while talking! Is that how he adjusts his game plan in the heat of battle??

Barry has been a failure so far and if he can’t get this “elite group” together he needs to be sacked. He’s too predictable and uninspiring. He insists on the players doing his thing instead of altering his thing to fit his players abilities and his thing is old school. I am tired of seeing wide open X receivers. I would like to see more “man” sets and a blitz or 3 would be more exciting than 8 yards off coverage just to keep everything “in front of you” (except the RB).
Joe berry led defense have always been in the bottom half of the league in Points allowed and had losing seasons aside from last year

Yes! The game Gray called last year went great. I couldn’t figure out why MLF didn’t hire him from the get go instead of Barry. Barry has no success in the league. Doesn’t make sense.

You got an elite group of defense players, yet, you still can’t put together a scheme or game plan or in-game adjustment to utilize these players to their best abilities. Joe Barry needs to be put on the hot seat!
Packers need to go find the best DC in College and bring him in, even if it’s just as an Assistant to start. Barry hasn’t proven at all that he’s up for the job.
If he can’t coordinate the Pack Defense to beat the Jets… HE SHOULD BE LET GO IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE GAME…
