I’m not sure you understand who JOK is or why we drafted him. This guy was drafted for one purpose and one purpose only – to force Lamar to play QB. At the college level, you can take a freak-athlete like Lamar and do a lot of crazy stuff with him. JOK is great as a nickel/dime LB, or to “spring-load” (a combo-DL-to-LB bump-and-run style coverage) onto hybrid-guys like Travis Kelce. But JOK is in Cleveland because he is Lamar Jackson’s (and similar college-style QBs’) kyrptonite.

Normally, Lamar counts on having that extra 12-18 inches of space to when he’s running the only offense he knows (the pistol-formation RPO). JOK is the Will-backer that makes the college-style run-pass-option not so effective anymore.

I shouldn’t even call him a Will. He’ll line up at Mike and Sam and even come in as a double- or a skirt-LB in Bear formations (sometimes called 4-6) personnel. There’s a lot you can use this kid for. Including special-teams. But, mostly, his job is to ruin Lamar Jackson and any other QBs that rely on “key-reading options” (where you have a “key” player and you are supposed to read that player and make a decision post-snap). So, in most RPOs, Lamar is supposed to analyze an OLB or DE and decide whether to give or take (hand it off or keep it). JOK is the guy that goes in to either mirror or oppose the flanking-end. Basically, JOK is in there to make Lamar Jackson wish he took that contract.

Why? He’s a top 10 NFL lb according to PFT. Do you watch sports?
