Jason Licht on Drafting Kyle Trask: He’s Got What It Takes | Press Conference – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Syndrac

LOL if Tom lost his job to a 2nd round pick rookie, i’d be extremely surprised even if he’s 44.

    a_collection_of_cells

This really is a smart move by Jason light. Tom only has two more season left in him so go get his successor in the 2nd round and let him sit and learn from Tom

    Amorphic Spirit

@a_collection_of_cells This was planned ahead with Tom Brady. I believe he even suggested Trask.

    a. corman

LOL if that thought even crossed your mind. “This is a great place to be GROOMED by the g.o.a.t.” -JL

    a_collection_of_cells

@Amorphic Spirit same. I believe this was brought to Tom before Buccaneers front office and Jason light signed off drafting a quarterback in this year’s draft

    Antonio Orellana

I don’t think this is that situation. The bucs are brady and want tb12 happy. This is more of a developmental project. Not like what the packers did to Rodgers.

Wishing B

Kyle doesn’t need to be ready this year. He was 4 spots away from winning a Heisman after have spent 2 years as a backup quarterback. That tells me he is capable of learning and applying the information when the time comes.

    Wishing B

@Tiny TREE I agree. And if he isn’t, it doesn’t even matter. People get all crazy about drafting quarterbacks when 27% of them don’t make it through their rookie contract and 44% don’t make it through their second contract. It isn’t that teams are “stuck” with anything at any point they can trade or draft another one. But he got that close to a Heisman after only 2 years playing, he has enough raw potential to give him a chance.

    Wishing B

@Tiny TREE I grew up a NE fan and I look at who the star players were and so many of them were trashed in the draft. Tom was a 6th rounder without much potential, AB was a 6th rounder, Edelman (also Shannon Sharpe) was a 7th rounder, Antonio Brown was a 6th round pick. Gronk was seen as too injury prone and unimpressive. He was sleeping when coaches came to meet him. Amendola wasn’t even drafted. He got hired on a practice squad before his Super Bowl Years. Patriots had players who didn’t really play football that long and came from LaCrosse. Honestly, this kid almost won a Heisman. That is already pretty darn good.

    Tiny TREE

@Wishing B fr and Bucs are one of the few teams who knows how to play as a team n not individually greedy like the Chiefs steelers, etc

    Wishing B

@Tiny TREE I look at BA and he honors these players and so does Jason. That goes a long way to building the trust to have an unselfish team. They choose the right players though. Some of these players who came with Tom are used to so much more production. To have the egos not get tweaked. I am impressed by all of them.

    Tiny TREE

@Wishing B I can’t Agree anymore pal with you and everything you said πŸ’―πŸ’―. Can’t wait for season to Begin. I’ll see yay then hopefully. Untill then Be Safe and Stay away from Crazy ppl out there.

“Tom’s gonna play as long as Tom wants to play, he’s earned that right.” My favorite sentence that I had wanted Bill to say but Bill tried to trade Tom and threatened to leave because he wasn’t allowed to trade Tom and now here I am hearing another GM saying the sweet words I longed to hear. With Bill, it was 20 years later he was still singing, “You should’ve put another ring on it.”

    Antonio Orellana

Man i was so sour when that happened, bill lost some of my respect. Tb literally give him his best years at a discount rate every season to keep the team financially healthy and they couldn’t let him play until he retired that was so wacky.

    Wishing B

@Antonio Orellana Exactly. He made it so that Tom had to leave when his contract was up or risk being traded to someplace he wouldn’t want to be. It was as if all of those rings and all of those discounts and all of the extra stuff Tom brings to a team meant nothing at all.

    Antonio Orellana

@Wishing B yeah and now is after a breakup tom is happy having fun in the nice weather no state taxes the bucs gave him weapons and a solid defense. Happy for tom to know his worth and leave that toxic relationship.

Wishing B

Tampa GM is more loyal to his backup QB’s than Greenbay and New England were to their legends.

    tminus543

I’m so disgusted with Green Bay. I wish i could be GM just so I could roll out the red carpet EVERYWHERE Aaron Rodgers went, year round. I’m not even a big rodgers fan, but I know that you DO NOT TREAT real, actual living legends like that. Aaron Rodgers deserves SO MUCH BETTER!!!!

    Wishing B

@tminus543 Yeah, it was the same with Tom in NE. He got them to the Super Bowl over 50% of the time and won over 50% of those Super Bowls and they were ready to trade him without consulting him. Fricking GOAT.

    Joseph Anthony Materese

Rick Eisen called it right on the nose…The Brady effect…. Back in the day….. management, staff, players, Logistic personnel, ground workers….the team came 1st… Nobody was more important than the team… Brady came down built his own team , plays, training staff.. now mind you this guy was the one special person that could do this.. But everybody specially quarterbacks Always felt that they were the most important ..they had to have those big egos …the quarterback had to be confident… What you see all these quarterbacks trying to jump contracts or calling their O-line out for their lack of protection.. Everybody wants to win like Tom Brady but we have to be realistic there’s only one Tom Brady it’s not good for the league to have these people jumping ship….other then TB cause he is the face of the league… So it’s a catch-22 it’s good that Brady did it, he deserves it..But the league has to take control or it will end up like a bunch of Spoonfed nba whining baby liberals that want what they want And that’s dangerous because you can see when you have a 3rd grade mine like lebron and your putting prices on policemens heads I know it was vague but it could’ve went any way other way…bad..

    Wishing B

@Joseph Anthony Materese There is a way to do business and still have it be honoring and respectful. The atmosphere in Tampa is respectful and it is appreciative. I feel trust for them. Not that they will always make the right decisions but that they won’t do something underhanded.

So happy we got Trask! Gator now a Buc β€πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈπŸŠ

Arrrrrr matey! Go Bucs. Bombs away from Trask

Creative Screen name

How many “tremendous athlete” QBs have we as Bucs fans suffered through? Give me an extremely accurate good decision maker every time please. This was a fan-freaking-tastic pick up by JL.

    Frank Reynolds

Bingo. Process speed is the most important QB skill and Trask excels at that.

Joseph Anthony Materese

I will tell you this if garappolo did not run behind Brady for those years he would not have went to the Super Bowl when he was with the 49ers (still on roster not for long) I could see a ton of TB1 on Jimmy G.. Without those years behind Brady I reiterate again you were not going to have a San Francisco Super Bowl… The key to the next quarterback for Tampa Bay has to have Tom Brady involved in picking development and finally the handing over of the keys when Tom sez I had enough.. You will see a perfect transformation.. And then for the 2nd coming of Tom Brady possibly a high level GM position if it’s available or coach if want to go into trenches but you have to have that football mind in the game We would be losing as fans around the world without The greatest football player to ever suit up

Joseph Anthony Materese

Guys want to hear something funny I’ve been living through Belicheks Press conferences for 20 years being a patriots fan and since I followed Tom to Tampa Bay I just fell in love with the GM press conferences … Coming from the steel curtain of coach B to the relaxing and forthwith press conferences of GM Light I almost feel like he’s a spy from another team When he comes out with these detailed break downs and then it hit me…. I realise it is info any team could get about any other freakin team… it’s just the way normal GM’s do things lol. I always felt like when a GM is that evasive over nothing it usually means it’s there way of keeping the spotlight all to themselves… all the while maintaining the bother appearance….

    Truth is Treason

I was a Brady fan and the Patriots for the most part but still never really watched many games once Brady and then Gronk came to Tampa I actually started watching the teams interviews and games and man let me tell you I’m a huge fan all around great atmosphere!

Dusty Michaud

Love this pick. Its great 2 be a Buc

AaronsVids2

Don’t forget, this is basically a 3rd round pick. Good choice!

General Manager

“Tom’s gonna play as long as Tom wants to play, he’s earned that right.” Jason showed his trust.TB12 already rewarded and will do it again!

Day 3 needs to be all Defensive secondary and Offensive Line picks

I can’t wait to see the trask to evens/Godwin connections 🐊and Bucs Lets Go

Mike Ruzza

Jason hit all the right points that matter for a QB. Let that be what needed saying. Support Trask for now, OK???

Seacock Nanny

Jenna’s presence in the reporting room is an indictment on sports media as a whole. They threw her to TB because we were irrelevant for so long. Ship her off to New Orleans.

HisManifest

Love the videos.

Daryl Mccowan

Trask will sit for 2 seasons before Brady retires. The the way the Bucs have operated I’m pretty sure they asked Brady how many more seasons he’ll play. He already said to 45, and I’m sure they said we want draft a QB at the end of 2nd or 3rd round.
