That joke/classic observation doesn’t work all that well when the scores are both common increments of touchdown(s) with the PAT 1 or 2 tacked on.
I can see you breaking out such a played out reference/observation if the score was, say, 6-5 or 3-2 but 8-7..midway or so through the 2nd quarter(after having virtually no on-field offseason preparation & without the preseason)?
I mean, really, you found your thought/post so hilarious it evoked, or even nearly brought about, tears of some sort?..
Honestly, no, *This is football* . Scores made up of 3, 6, 7, &/or 8 are commonplace & seen every game. Scores are often on the lower end after only 1 quarter of play, if there has been any scoring at all. In recent years, ‘The Shield’ has made it increasingly more difficult for the defense to actually play defense & rendered the QB position virtually untouchable leading to higher scores than ever before in its 100(-ish) year history but, as witnessed in the Super Bowl 2 years ago, that isn’t always the case. That being said, it’s an amazing game &, with a little bit of focus, I’m sure you’ll pick up on its idiosyncrasies soon enough.
..I still remember when I first started watching & learning the game.

Horrible play call by the Vikings
Alchemist plenty of teams have done that in the past. The defense is expecting the run since most teams run the ball in that situation to get some breathing room. So the Vikings called PA to bait and throw it over the top and gain a big chunk of yardage. As u can see they had max protection, just a good defensive call by the Packers, they disguised it very well. Jaire did a great job acting like he was just walking up to cover when he was really blitzing
