@Gorgan maybe, but what does a defense from Fangio and Phillips look like, it features the same concept of many looks with many variations. Think we will have to watch it and see but it seems like a good problem ☺️

@Duke Mondrafon pre-snap the defense can have some formations, but nothing like the offense. But post-snap defense is all reaction. Takes more athleticism and a fast brain, but nowhere near as complex.

@Seth Tenrec I would not be so sure at this point. Nobody knows anything about this offense, this defense, or this STs. So any suggestions about which is more complicated are not supportable. The 2015 defense was the most complicated ever, more complicated than most offenses except those run by the 49ers in the 80s and 90s. Both the offense and defense have 11 players each with an individual role and assignment. That leads to eleven different possible formations and out of those formations there are 11 raised to the 11th power (minus 10) possible plays. Thus defense and offense have the same complexities. The defense has to have the same complication level to beat offenses. Played football for a few years in high school (about 50 years ago). That is not the NFL but in the end football is still football, 11 guys go man on man and the better team wins every play. Win enough plays and the team wins the game. Fangio has perhaps the best defensive mind ever and his defenses swamp most offenses with possibilities. His defense is never what it looks like at the start of any play. Had the same things from the 49ers teams on offense. In the end, it does not matter as long as they win it all. We should never forget that it truly is defense that WINS championships. Really the only exceptions have been the 49ers and the Rams. Perfect example is 2013, no Von Miller, Denver cannot stop Seattle, 2015 Von Miller SB MVP destroys Carolina almost by himself. Aaron Rodgers has won BTB MVPs but without a great defense the Packers lose in the post season. The Rams defense is more complicated than their offense because the staff realizes defense must beat the other teams’ complicated offenses. Otherwise, the Rams never make the SB. Rams offense is simple, run the ball and pass to the SB MVP.
