Inspiring Change with the Los Angeles Rams

From Kenny Washington and Woody Strode breaking the NFL's color barrier in 1946, to Grambling State's Shack Harris becoming the first Black quarterback to start a season, inspiring progress has been a cornerstone of the Los Angeles Rams franchise from the very beginning. We're committed to being a team that pioneers with a purpose, inspiring Changemakers to do the necessary work to create access in our city, fight for justice and instill compassion.

THAT WAS JAMES HARRIS, NOT JACK.

Speaking of Rams’ innovation: We were the first team in the NFL to put a design on our helmets. The design was created by LA Rams halfback Fred Gerhke in 1946. The original leather helmets were hand-painted by Gerhke, who played for the Rams in Cleveland in 1940 & 1945, and then in LA from 1946-1949. The design has undergone subtle changes over the years, but it is still strikingly similar to Gerhke’s original concept. Look at our Rams spreading the love! You can’t help but love these guys right back… GO RAMS!!!
