Tim Hortons Cup

While some mistakes were his we didn’t help him with our O-line

    D23

Honestly, when he threw that 17 yarder to Callaway, on a play action with a “Max Protection” call and THEN still got decked because of the O line, I felt bad for Ian.
How do you let a defender get that close to him on a Max protect call, ridiculous.
Ian unfortunately never stood a chance, Ruiz basically ended Brees’ career, Ian had no shot last night.

chim reynolds

This young man was set up to fail on multiple levels…If it were my call, I’d keep him as the starter the rest of the season…

    Me he

    Yeah they should

    Xxjon wayne

@saintzig I feel you on that he does need alot more time but he also needs experience to the NFL level of play

    jack

    โค๐Ÿ™โšœ๐Ÿ€ I agree

    Chris Carter

@Xxjon wayne he doesn’t need to be thrown out there. Doubt we make the playoffs, need a good draft pick for a top tier WR or QB.

    Xxjon wayne

@Chris Carter he got thrown out there last night minus well finish the season u just said it yourself we not making the playoffs why canโ€™t he gain this experience definitely need that draft pick for a Wr I wouldnโ€™t get a Qb in this draft none of them seem like a franchise Qb

James Pappas

Tough outing for a depleted team. I liked how he never looked flustered on any series. He was ready to jump right back in and likely get killed, but he would run back in.

    Braeden Manchester

Never looked flustered?? Lmao. He was running for his life all night long

    derbagger22

@Braeden Manchester I guess you don’t know what the meaning of flustered is, then. He didn’t yell at his teammates, he didn’t fling his helmet in disgust, he was always ready to jump back in when he had to. But, hey, at least your lmao’ing.

    Mr. Ryan

He ran out of bounds with the ball for a 20 yard loss instead of throwing it away. If that kid wasnโ€™t flustered last night nobody in the history of the nfl has been flustered.

    derbagger22

@Mr. Ryan then i guess no one has been flustered.

    Marcus Thomas

I noticed that to. He was ready to roll after everytime he got lit up

BJamminSinceBirth

Let him play the next two games. He needs protection but he needs the experience.

    Gabriel Fernando

I agree, this game should be must win but now it is past, let see him play

    G

Hill will be back next week, win next 2 games against Carolina and Atlanta might have a shot at playoffs, gotta win out and hope some teams lose

    Mr. Ryan

    Kids hopeless.

    Me he

    @Mr. Ryan Hahaha

    Whodat 4life

    Agree

Brook Melee

I like him. It’s undeniable that anyone would have done poorly in the situation he was thrown into. He has heart and needs protection and receivers. Looking forward to watching him win the next 2 games and becoming a powerhouse over his career in New Orleans.

    Ian Johnson

Weโ€™re probably not gonna win another game, but hereโ€™s hoping

    Tirrell Faunteroy

@Chris Carter Taysom doesnt play that factor IF THE DEFENSE doenst play like theyve been playing we win ZERO games

    Chris Carter

@Tirrell Faunteroy he’s the best qb we have left. Siemian was and is average at best. With Taysom and our defense when they aren’t riddled with Covid is still our best chance to win a low scoring game.

    Jessica Phillips

Will he be playing in the next game?

    Chris Carter

@Jessica Phillips No, Taysom will be back.

JWS

I think Ian Book did great under the circumstances he was thrust into. For example, he had two original starters on the O line and one of them (Ruiz) is total garbage. Ruiz was a turnstile and is the worse lineman on the Saints team. . So he started his very first game against one of the most aggressive blitzing defenses in the NFL with almost 50% of the team out due to COVID. One announcer mentioned that the Saints was starting their 7th offensive tackle and Sean mentioned they literally fitted players for equipment today who started tonight’s game. They had to pull guys off the street just to have enough players to play this game. This games doesn’t tell us anything about Ian Book and only served one purpose. It gave Ian Book some real game time experience. This kid will be good when he plays with most of the starters. He played with backup offensive lineman, back wide receivers and 3rd and 4th string tight ends. Any veteran QB would have played horribly with that supporting cast and we stared a rookie with 21 players and 4 coaches out with COVID.

    Ryan Donald

    JWS

@Ryan Donald The amount of cognitive ability you must have applied to come up with this type of response is astounding. LMAO!

    JWS

@Kekw The amount of cognitive ability you must have applied to come up with this type of response is astounding. LMAO!

Demetrio Buckner

The line looked like hot garbage. Ruiz looks like a bust for a first round pick. Literally almost got Book killed on too many snaps. He made some bad rookie mistakes like not knowing when to throw the ball away and not take a sack. He has alot of learning but showed some heart given his circumstances

mcenchroe

Stuck in there and took some big shots. But he got back up and didnโ€™t quit. Smart guy, just needs NFL experience.

Tandri Ants

Head’s up young man !!! It’s not the end there still Big future comin !!!

Fryz Solis, Gonzales

Heโ€™s gna get it i got faith in him โšœ๏ธโšœ๏ธWHODAT โšœ๏ธโšœ๏ธ

Joshua Riston

Would love to see him get an extended look as QB. Offensive line blocked horrendously. The man was running for his life each play. Thatโ€™s not on him. Heโ€™s making no excuses.

    Joshua Riston

@Saints4lyfe I donโ€™t know whatโ€™s been said, but. My comment isnโ€™t designed to throw Taysom Hill under the bus. Itโ€™s simply about Ian Book.

    The RapidDotSlinger

@Saints4lyfe I just want to see the dude who lead notre dame to their best season

James T.

He made some rookie mistakes but all in all I thought he played well for his first especially considering he got no help from the oline I mean not even Kamara or Ingram could get going. I’d like to see him finish out the season and see how he would do with a healthier oline and with Taysom as a extra weapon on the field.

    SouthsideKen98

Taysom has an injured finger I donโ€™t think heโ€™ll be catching the ball anytime soon it would be nice to see tho

    James T.

@SouthsideKen98 I think he could it hasn’t stopped him from throwing it or running with it. But I don’t think it will happen but I agree with you it would be nice to see though.

Cameron Smith

He took full responsibility and made no excuses, that was a great interview, I think he performed well given the circumstances, I like this guy.

Oats

Homie was under more pressure than Mahomes in super bowl 55. This loss wasnโ€™t his fault.

Sean Babineaux

Didnโ€™t expect much. Just threw him to the wolves.

Rene Cantu

Tough loss, but itโ€™s unfair to Ian, he didnโ€™t have a lot of help, the Saints had 20 players on Covid, tough for anyone to win under those circumstances

Daniel Ordaz

I believe in this kid! Tough and gritty. I would love to see him get an opportunity with a healthy lineup. With better preparation and a healthy lineup I believe he can do great things in this offenseโšœ๏ธ

Ncc MT Prod.

I really feel bad for him after those int’s and more he has my respect hope hes doing good

seymourlj

Best QB performance in 2021 /22 season ? Ian Book.
Hands down, 7 linemen missing, wow,

Patrice Boulanger

I believe that he has the potential to be a really good quarterback. He just need more practice and confidence. Well, he need a Drew Brees coaching in this off season !!!!!
