Give me top 12 for Sam and 34 all day! Could possibly get Slater or Waddle with that pick to help on offense and then go OL/WR/EDGE with the 23. Problem is that Sam’s value is a mid/late 2nd so that’s basically trading 2 2nds for a top 12 pick… No team will do it.
If we need to add another pick to the mix then I’ll pass we have to many holes to trade up like that
First off, no one is going to be able to tell you how any one team might value Darnold. It’s all speculation on trade value. 2nd, the #34 is basically a late 1st and they’ll be plenty of 1st rd. graded players available there. You easily could get a franchise CB, WR, OL, or LB at that spot, and not much lower graded than the guy you might take at #12. He’s just spitballing anyway here, with ideas than just trading Darnold straight up.

It’s starting to feel like if the offers for Sam aren’t what Joe thinks is worth it, he’s going to roll w Sam and trade down. Maybe that’s why he/they are doing so much work evaluating and reevaluating. But if the right trade comes up he’ll take it and go QB at 2. I’m a fan of either as long as we aren’t just giving Sam away, I need value to build.
Joe would nvr make an amateur move like that.

None of the QBs had their PRO days yet. Point is JD said he’s building through the draft and he has a chance to have 15 1st, 2nd and 3rd rd picks in the next 2 drafts. If JD doesn’t trade down and build monster roster im done with JD. Can’t believe in a GM that doesn’t believe in himself. And I can’t see another option since the Jets need 12-15 new starters to be a really good roster

It wasn’t a weird comment. Troubled QB’s have said similar things in the past. The comment was a perfect storm. New York market, game on national TV, the week before Halloween, against the best franchise of all time. That’s why this comment is remembered.
@Angel yeah Angel, the non-football dweebs have no clue about that comment and use it EXACTLY how the network hoped they would when they unprofessionally aired it on national TV.

We need to draft Sewell or Chase or else I will have no more hope for the future.

He’s talking about a swap, which is doable and makes a lot of sense to move up to top 15, maybe you have to throw in a 4th rounder. I think it’ll be Washington, I believe they’re at 19 — swap our 2nd rounder for their pick and Sam and maybe they throw in another pick in the 3rd or…!?
If we could get multiple 2nd and 3rd round picks (two 2’s, two threes?) that would be amazing
