If you have Golden Tate on your fantasy team, you have to be encouraged by what you saw on Thursday night as the Seattle Seahawks downed the Arizona Cardinals, 34-22.
It wasn’t a standout performance from Tate (4 rec. and 77 yds), but it was his second-best of the season. While Russell Wilson wasn’t able to find Tate for a touchdown, the wideout was at least able to make the most of his targets and rack up enough fantasy points for a No. 2 or 3 wide receiver.
At this point in the season, you can’t be banking on Tate to be your No. 1 wideout, unless you’re in a league with more than 20 teams. He’s never put up gaudy numbers, and much of the Seattle offense goes through Marshawn Lynch. Tate’s ceiling will be pretty low for the remainder of the 2013 season.
But if he can provide somewhere around seven to 10 fantasy points, that’s a good week, and he did exactly that against the Cardinals.
You’ll definitely want to consider giving Tate a start next week. The Seahawks are facing off with the St. Louis Rams. It’s a favorable matchup for Wilson and the passing game as the Rams are one of the worst teams in the league when it comes to defending the pass. There should be enough to go around between Lynch, Tate and Sidney Rice.
Don’t expect a breakout game, but Tate should be able to at least match or slightly improve upon his Week 7 numbers.
