Bernard gained 79 rushing yards and scored two touchdowns on just nine carries before having to leave Thursday’s 22-20 loss to the Dolphins in the fourth quarter with a rib injury. He also had four catches for 25 yards in the spectacular performance.
The second of Bernard’s scores came on a 35-yard run that began with two Dolphin defenders collapsing the right side of the Bengals’ offensive line only to watch as the elusive tailback reversed field and dodged about a half-dozen other would-be tacklers en route to the end zone. His best performance as a pro was overshadowed by the loss and the fact he did not return to the field. Owners must hope for the best as reports have yet to reveal the severity of his condition.
