Giants RB Jacobs retiring after 9 seasons

New York Giants running back Brandon Jacobs announced his retirement from the NFL on Twitter on Thursday night.

In nine seasons — eight with New York — Jacobs piled up 5,094 rushing yards and 64 total touchdowns.

Jacobs, 31, played a key role in the Giants’ wins in Super Bowl XLII and XLVI. His 60 rushing touchdowns are a Giants career record.

Jacobs’ announcement came on the same day that Giants offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride also announced his retirement.
