EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz suffered a concussion and a sprained knee in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against Seattle and didn’t return.

The Giants lost 23-0 to the Seattle Seahawks to fall to 5-9 this season.

Late in the third quarter, Cruz went up to grab a high pass from quarterback Eli Manning and landed on his head. He did not get up right away and walked gingerly back to the sideline before heading to the locker room for further evaluation.

The pass was originally ruled a 16-yard completion, but Seattle challenged the play and it was overturned. Cruz finished with two catches for 25 yards.

In what’s been an abysmal season on offense for the Giants, Cruz has been the team’s steadiest performer. He has 73 catches for 998 yards and four touchdowns. If Cruz has to miss the last two games, he’d finish 2 yards short of his third straight 1,000-yard season.

Giants left guard James Brewer also suffered an ankle injury and was replaced by Brandon Mosley. Running back Peyton Hillis went to the locker room in the fourth quarter to be evaluated for a concussion.
