While one game *can* indicate continued good play, in this case… just _look_ at the quality of his passes & even setting up before them.
His footwork is sloppy, he sails slow, floating passes to wide-open receivers that force them to reach above their heads to make catches that don’t allow them to run upfield. So he misses on wide-open receivers & can’t zing them in.
Meanwhile, the receivers _did get_ wide-open – to the extent that it looked like Denver’s defense simply was blind to fluorescent yellow. I honestly cannot remember _EVER_ seeing a game where that many receivers were that open that many times.
They can’t play like this & expect to win. As for Denver, this was all inexcusable. They have one of the supposedly best secondaries & it looked like they they were imposters. They looked stunned that they didn’t see the wide-open receivers in fluorescent yellow.
This means much more for Denver than it does Seattle. Smith wasn’t accurate or fast. Denver meanwhile spent tons of $ improving both sides of the ball & play in The Toughest Division in the NFL this season & dropped a game they had no business dropping.
Cripes, if this is how they handle the Seahawks, they’ll have no chance against the Chiefs, Raiders & Chargers. This was an ugly loss, not a good win.

because pete carrol is 70 yrs old. he has a different mentality. he just wants the best players available to win so he can earn his pay check.

@Choose Carefully im not gonna lie im a little too lazy to read all that but from what i read i agree with you. I noticed Genos awareness in the pocket is definitely lacking especially when charles cross got beat and geno fumbled the ball. I am however really impressed with the team overall with specific attention to the offensive line and how impressive charles cross and abe lucas played. We probably shouldnt have won the game considering denver beat them selves with penalties and controversial playcalling but im happy with the hawks overall . I see a lot of room for growth.

@RAGE MASTER You’re right. The team overall has some definite strengths. But Smith is not a #1 starting-quality QB. He just isn’t. However, there are more teams than there *are* quality QBs or even quality *running backs* in the league this year.
This is why the Browns look like a great bet this year. They’re solid on the lines, their back-up Brissett is an excellent back-up, _can_ lead drives (& did, week 1), showed improvement _during the game_ & have two excellent RBs to wear down opponents with.

I like him but he is the king of playing good one week and throwing 2-4 ints by the 3rd qt in the next game. Ask Jets fans.

Defenses are going to have him for dinner as the season progresses. That checkdown style of play will not consistently get wins.

Call me crazy, but he could really be in to something. Could be a flash in the pan but the game has changed to fit his play style. We’ll see

I definitely agree that we need to see more than one performance like this out of Geno before we can truly say yes or no.

That said, it’s been years since we saw this kind of performance, and ragged as it is, I think this Seahawks team is still the best team Geno’s ever been on. His prior stints on the Jets and Giants were with absolutely miserable squads with no targets and awful protection. Here? He’s actually got both. This isn’t the Legion of Boom Seahawks but it’s a better line than either of those clown shows, DK Metcalf is almost certainly the best receiver he’s had in the NFL, and Pete Carroll is also, actually, probably the best head coach he’s ever had.

The Seahawks are definitely still the definite underdogs of their division, but I’m all for the Resurrection of Geno Smith. It would be a hell of a show.
