General Manager Brad Holmes on evaluating talent at Senior Bowl – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE
Gary Torrence

The Stafford question 🤦🏾‍♂️ there was nothing they could do smh super awkward question at this point. Move on #OnePride

    Tanner Swift

Thought the same. Good opportunity to hear about the senior bowl and players but we ask about 9….

    Dumb question by Dave

    Freedom The Freeman

Love the question because better offers were on the table and Brad didn’t do what was best for the franchise. Stafford didn’t have a no trade clause but still controlled where he went. I understand we’re trying to build a better reputation as a franchise after the Patricia crap but that’s on Patricia not Holmes and company. Nothing we can do now but Birkett isn’t wrong for asking questions because the narrative is Holmes and Campbell have changed the culture. Well, that’s a SOL type move with the trade. So we shall see.

@Freedom The Freeman the question would have been fine 10 months ago.

@Freedom The Freeman What better offers were on the table for a Stafford deal one year ago? Carolina reportedly offered #8 overall, a 5th round pick, and Teddy Bridgewater. Washington reportedly offered #19 overall plus a 3rd round pick. The Colts had discussions but never offered the 21st pick overall. The Patriots reportedly offered a 2nd round pick and a player. Denver reportedly offered the #9 overall pick and Drew Lock. These are better offers than the Rams deal?
The Detroit Lions traded Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff, both #1 overall picks who have guided the Rams to a SB appearance. The Lions received the Rams 3rd rounder in 2021 which turned out to be CB Ifeatu Melifonwu, who was playing significant snaps early in the season before he was injured. He came off of IR to play at the end of the season and showed promise. The Lions hold the Rams 1st round pick, either #31 or #32 this upcoming draft, and they also hold the Rams 1st round pick in 2023. Those two 1st round picks can be used on drafting players in those respective spots, but they can also be used to gain more draft capital if another team wants to trade up or down.
The #8 or #9 overall pick would have been nice last year, but not one other team offered another 1st round pick beyond 2021. I would rather have two extra selections in the 1st round over the next two drafts to find players who will most likely start and will definitely contribute to the team’s success going forward. Goff was thrown into a pinch this season, but he showed improvement and leadership as the season was winding down. he was 3-1 in his last four starts.
I really don’t see a better offer that was presented. The Detroit Lions got all they could in this scenario.

Brad Holmes help put that contending team in LA together and personally spotted Aaron Donald and Kupper Cupp. So far St. Brown turned out to be a stud, so Brad definitely does have that eye on spotting good talent when he sees it due to his track record.

    Justin Chilcutt

Dont forget Sewell, sewell was the best pick we could have mad in the draft at that point and same when st brown was still on the board they can just see talent.

    Classic Lions

As much as I would have loved Stafford to stay. By the time this rebuild get finished Stafford would be at least 37 yo. I always said he deserves better than what Detroit gave him.

    Young Amazing

Well he needs to Draft Aidan Hutchinson

    MeatWaad

Im a Steeler fan but i can see from the outside that the Lions are turning that organization around quickly. Trading Stafford was a great move even if it hurt to see him go they got 2 1st round draft picks out of it. They need to attack the draft and FA this season. As soon as betting lines open im betting the over on win/loss total especially if its around 5 or 6 ill put my house on it (not really i dont have a gambling problem lol).

Im happy for Lions fans you guys have suffered long enough and seem like solid fans. Please dont turn into the Browns fans when you start winning lol

Ya he was a low level scout. Rams haven’t drafted well at all. They built there team through trades and free agency. He deserves credit for bringing Stafford in that’s it. He’s getting a rams super bowl ring for it

Bryan Smith

Keep killin it Brad and Co. This is a great chance to have this staff get a good look at some rookies. I can’t help but feel WAY more hopeful that these guys can spot talent and find some gems in the draft compared to when Patricia scowled at everybody in the Senior Bowl.

halfblooddutchprince

The Stafford question 😒😒

Chip

Birkett makes me cringe with his stupid TMZ questions

Don Bur

Is Scout Mike Martin down there also? Beast of a scouting eye

Scott Smith

That’s some GOLD right there….stay the course and finish the job.

Cody

Lions 🦁 have good management and coaching..unlike my cardinals with kliff kingsberry calling 🗑 plays and costing us games😕😒

    Cody

@ForeverTriix y’all have a bright future with Amon st browns and that receiver y’all might draft from Memphis university

santacruzer

It goes against the mainstream narrative for the Lions to be a good football team

Damion Watson

Man I’d love to be there to see him work. Brad is probably high up on someone everybody is over looking. CANT WAIT TO DRAFT.

Lion Rumble 81

Yessir! Brad super proud and excited for this coaching core and group to see the talent up close and personal! Find those GEMS and find those young men who fit the culture and scheme to right this ship! AG please don’t go anywhere please stay on as our defensive coordinator… They’re out here playing with minorites as far as the head coaching goes! Stick with MCDC and really build your resume so they can’t neglect you and your ability to create and get the very best out of players! #RoaringInVegas #313StateOfMind #DetroitVsEverybody

Adam Mancini

From the outside looking in, I really don’t think Holmes likes Dave Birkett much lmao 😂

MustLoveBeards84

Brad Holmes is awesome. Wish I could work for him and learn from him.

King Cole

3 years man that’s all it takes man . Cardinals, Cincinnati and others recent years it takes only 3 years to complete on full rebuild. We have a top 13- 16 QB just need to build around him and get faster on both sides of the ball.

    Slimeeee

Need to draft a qb tho can’t win with Goff he can’t make plays with his legs look at all the good teams now they all have qbs that can make plays outside the pocket as well

BEN DIESEL

IN BRAD HOLMES WE TRUST

Moonwalker King2423

Im a Cowboys fan but I want the Lions to do great and build a contender so bad Detroit deserves it they also need to build around Jared Goff contrary to popular belief he is a good QB

    ToDd W3nzel

Yes! He may not be the best but he has talent over half the other QBs in the league and he’s got the playoff experience and the experience of being on a winning team.

    Eric Brunett

Jared Goff didn’t really have a chance in year one of a new complete rebuild team yet he turned it on late last season when a receiver actually stepped up for them and then he took over for them and the play calling started being there so Dan Campbell and his coaches and any of the returning players now all a year into the system on top of Brad Holmes having a opportunity being in great draft position right now with cap room available he can add alot of talent to their team this next off season so I’m excited to see what they can do. Personally I would like too see them not take a QB with any of there picks in the first two rounds because they need help everywhere except at punter and I don’t think any of the QBs in this class will definitely be better then Goff.

Jake Contos

This regime has me smiling ear to ear, keep it up guys

Steve DeJong

Bard Holmes is the best thing that could have happened to the Lions.

Edward Berry

TALENT TALENT TALENT…. Keep adding…. TALENT!!

C. Parker C.

Brad Holmes was seen today getting fitted for his Super Bowl ring today with the rams. He’s credited for fleecing the lions out of their QB
