Alexander Mattison is an underrated RB2. With those hurdling moves and vision, Vikings are lucky to have 2 great backs.
Def underrated and he compliments well with DC
Except when it’s againt she Seahawks on 4th and 1 and he run straight into a defender instead of running it outside where he was already heading and could have easily got 10-20 yards.
@NamelessViking I hear ya. Remember it too. My best guess as a backup and doesn’t want to make a call that goes against Zimmer on a 4th down. If he jumped outside and still didn’t get the first down Zimmer would kill him maybe bench him and use Abdullah as punishment. But since he listened and went up the middle Zimmer can say it’s a bad call or oline and not Mattison fault for making a call on his own. But then again this is how the great RBs separates from the good ones. I see both sides.
@Cobaltbuddy89 the play was an outside stretch, he was suppose to bounce it outside because the defense was weak on the outside but Mattison ran up right basically th middle ( by O’Neil and our rg. Zimmer confirmed Mattison ran wrong spot and if he choose the one he was supposed to it would be a 1st. Mattison is a good serviceable back but between cook and him it’s night and day on how they effect the offense.
