Defnitely needs to keep sack Barrett
If Tampa has only 14 million in free cap space how can they sign any more then 2 players back? Everyone says they want to return but where is the money?
36 is the current estimate. And theirs 160 million in cap space available for 2022. We will have to do what we normally don’t, signing bonuses to make up for lower salary in the initial years.
Some guys really have to get pay before its to late
@Richard Scientist The NFL hasn’t announced the cap space yet and that is the main factor. They think it will be 180 Million to 185 Million if it is closer to 185 Million, that would make things easier. Either way, it isn’t a good year to be a free agent. Half of the other teams don’t have any cap space available, so everybody will get paid less. Players who would have gone for 20 million last year will go fro 15 million this year and would go for 22 million next year because the cap space is going back up.
@Richard Scientist The number of teams that could take these men is cut in half to begin with. So many teams are in cap space trouble. That would mean that they will have an option to go to the teams like the Jets which weren’t competitive and unless they are offered a whole lot more, the income tax rate is one of the highest in the country in NY. Jacksonville Jaguars has a lot of cap space and is in a no income tax state, but teams like The Saints and Green Bay and Chiefs and Bills and Bears and Pittsburgh and other competitive teams have no money to give either.
@Richard Scientist Plus, if they stay with Brady, they are more apt to get famous and that can benefit them down the road for things like media and marketing. If they go to the Jets they are likely to be frustrated all season. If they go to Jacksonville, they will be less famous. Patriots have a lot of cap space but they are back to income tax and higher cost of living in MA.
Fournette I would hope they bring him back.
Fournette is one who might want to go if anyone offers him money. He had options last year but came to play with Tom to get a Super Bowl ring. He wasn’t happy in the beginning of the season because he was used to being “the guy” the offense ran through. He did get happy by the playoffs but if someone offers him real money, he might go.
Barrett most likely would be the only casualty here. Better to lose the one than the many. He’ll end up on no team. There are fifteen other players to consider plus whatever it will take to cover the salaries of the rookies drafted or picked up in FA. He’s pricing himself out of a job and into free agency Limbo. Happens every year.

Hopefully, we extend Brady to free up some more cap space to bring back most if not all of our guys. Shaq and Godwin being the top 2 targets. I’m hoping to grab a QB in the draft at some point where he can sit behind Brady for a year or two and learn.
They don’t need to do that we $28M under the cap and their are other players that we can restructure.
@Ineffable Brady is the logical choice. Gives him a 3rd year, spread out his cap hit.
Not to mention that Shaq is probably gonna eat up 20 million of that by himself and Godwin will probably have offers in the 15-18 million range and we have to get very close to that if we want a shot at keeping him too.
Thats to say nothing about David, Suh, AB, Fournette and any rookies we draft.
That 28 million will be gone in a flash.

I love godwin. I understand he wants to make his money now…but he had MAD dropped catches in post season games….I want him to dorn pewter & red as I feel he belongs but that boy better rewatch that footage and humble up. Well see how it plays out
Fournette needs to move on to get paid. Running backs only have a short timeframe to make their money. Bucs need to focus their money elsewhere.
I would let go godwin and barrett resign ab he can take godwin role and draft the replacement for barrett. Resign Leonard Fournette.

The defense needs to be kept intact and maybe improved with seasoned safety. They need to look ahead two years so a solid young QB needed.
