I’ve been a Vikings fan since the days of Fran Tarkenton and this is the most positive energy I’ve ever seen throughout the team. It was pretty positive during the 15-1 ’98 season but not always perfect and Denny wasn’t a warm fuzzy coach. Jerry Burns before him made Mike Zimmer look like Richard Simmons (he was awesome, though). Chilly was a block of wood. Leslie Frazier was a human sleeping pill. This is the first time we’ve had a coach who smiles since the days of Mike Tice, who was maybe a little bit too much of a players’ coach ([cough] loveboat [cough]) and probably not an offensive mastermind. KOC has defeinitely changed the vibe here and we have to give that new GM credit too. It was pretty ballsy that his first big move was to to pass on Jim Harbaugh and take KOC. If you do that you have to be right and it looks like he was right as rain.

I don’t feel that usual sense of Vikings fatalism that I usually feel when I know we’re just having fun until the inevitable shanked kick or pick across the middle in the NFCC, but for some reason I don’t have the “wait for it…wait for it…” feeling.

Meanwhile, the Packers might be fraudulent. Making them ten point favorites is ridiculous. If you can find a Packer fan willing to give you that, jack up the bet. It’s free money. Chicago isn’t trash, isn’t going to be intimidated and also has a new regime trying to establish itself. You can bet that ten point spread is going to fire up the Bears even more. They have a pass rush, they can ball hawk, they can give the Packers a hard time. Do not be surprised if Chicago upsets them on Sunday night and then, man, it’s going to be fun to see the state of Wisconsin go into a tailspin.

KOC had nerves of STEEL to call that 4th and 1 play on the first drive of the game. It’d be foolish to say he was the sole reason for the Rams’ success last year, but he must’ve been a pretty crucial part of it if he can do this in his first professional game as a head coach. Really excited to see how far this team goes!
