Following the report that Michael Vick has signed with the New York Jets and Mark Sanchez has been released, Insider asked several of its NFL experts to weigh in on whether the Jets can win with Vick at quarterback, and what these moves mean for the futures of Sanchez and Geno Smith.

1. Is Vick a good fit for the Jets? And can they win with him?

Louis Riddick: Vick was the best available fit for Marty Mornhinweg’s version of the West Coast offense — by a mile. Mornhinweg played a big role in helping Andy Reid craft the downfield, long-ball passing offense that Vick thrived in while in Philly, and Vick will walk in the door knowing the offense better than anyone else in that locker room. If the Jets can acquire another pass-catching threat, preferably one who can threaten the third level of the defense in a consistent way, they will have significantly improved the outlook for this offense in 2014. There is no reason the Jets can’t be a 10-win team if they can adequately address the rest of their needs, but as it usually is with Vick, the key will be whether he can stay healthy.
