If you were ever tuned in to UNC these past three years…you KNOW how good Howell is. He literally is Baker Mayfield minus the poor decision making in terms of arm talent/mobility. Dude should be the starter week 1 but we will have to wait until Wentz Wagon wheels fall off nbd

Didn’t Ridder play like 3 whole quarters and Howell only played one? Ridder was less than 50% completion. I wasn’t all that impressed with Ridder. Howell looked absolutely awesome basically on every play.
this guy’s impressive, i was a panthers fan watching and i couldn’t help but be impressed. guy led his team to come back from a 14 point deficit and shouldve won the commanders the game if they’re defense didnt hand yards to the panthers because of penalties smh. commanders might have their future franchise qb

Haven’t been able to say that since rg3 was our qb and that didn’t last very long so I hope this one ends up better and healthier than the end of the game

@brian bailey You do not spin out of a sack and run out of the pocket and throw cross body while the entire defense is focused on you. Unless if you are the very best of the best, you shouldn’t be able to do that

Definitely see this guy being their QB of future. If he’d left college 1 yr earlier he probably would have been drafted way higher.
Unfortunately for Sam Howell, and fortunately for Washington, Howell was a true sophomore 1 yr earlier. Thus he was ineligible for the NFL Draft; which requires atleast 3 years out of high school before elgibility is granted.
@4evrR #1 really, oh dang. I guess he should have done like jmar chase and sat out the year and just focus on draft and probably would have kept his stock up, but hey hopefully Washington takes care of him and get a new field since that grass has caused too many injuries to it’s own players and opponents.

Imo most qbs in this draft class got drafted way later than they should have and I don’t understand why. Malik Willis in the 3rd is also something I can’t wrap my head around
@J L That would have been a terrible idea to sit out for a QB which is more of thinking man’s game. Last season our offensive line was terrible but that made Howell more aware, and that might actually helped raised his game. He’s more prepared for blitzes and the line falling apart. #GoTarHeels
Packers fan here, I don’t see how this guy dropped this low in the draft. He is already better that Jordan Love and has huge hands with a cannon arm. I hope he starts

Honestly if Howell didn’t have a down year last year at UNC the dude could have been a first round pick. If he can continue to develop. Washington fans you guys got a steal and your future franchise QB

Cant believe we got him in the 5th round absolute steal. But in my honest opinion we should definitely sit him for a year unless Wentz gets hurt. I think heinicke is done as a Washington qb he looked really bad out there today. If we give Howell time to develop than I see him being our starting qb. I just hope Wentz stays healthy so we dont rush his progress.

At one point, he was mocked as a first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, if he’d come out. He stayed and played in a different offense. Still, looked pretty good. I’d been watching him, since the 2020 season. I never thought in my wildest dreams he’d fall to us in the 5th round. I believe in another year or so, he’ll definitely be ready. Loved what saw, albeit against backups.
Damn, I’m not very familiar with Howell’s play but I gotta admit he looked pretty impressive here. Obviously it’s against 3rd string and practice squad guys but still, he looked very poised and didn’t seem to get rattled. If nothing else, that’s a very good trait for a young QB to have. Also loved how he always kept his eyes downfield.
Howell certainly has a cannon.
Steeler fan here. I sort of wanted him in Pitt initially. Good luck to him in Washington. Hope he can help the turnaround soon
