LETS GO! *commenting before the end* I loved some things and see clay ready to be molded ! RISE UP STAY GROUNDED

Jahqsin

Hes got a lot of potential. I like it.

    keti meleah

    Potential??😒🤣🤣ok

    Jahqsin

@keti meleah You are an idiot if you judge a player off his NFL debut. In some cases even his rookie season. Look at Trevor Lawrence, hes good now. Look at Mac Jones, hes fallen off.

Keith Spencer

Once he calms down from being excited he’s gonna be okay

Gohan Lam

HE LOOKED GOOD THAT SECOND HALF!!! Give him more time. He’s a rookie man. Literally he’s learning on the spot. And he played a decent Saints D. He also didn’t have much option out there but Drake London. Imagine if he had Pitts out there opening up more holes for him. I’m proud of him. He was up for the challenge. He was one London fumble away from either tying it or taking a lead on a touchdown and the whole narrative would have different. Excited for his next start. AS ALWAYS RISE UP BABY!!!!

    Robert Hardee

We will get Pitts back and will have London back next year. We need a SOLID #2&#3 WR and Oline help+some depth on Offense. Defense needs major Dline help and LB’er and DB depth(Heyward will be back). Kicking game is solid atm. I’m willing to give AS&Coaches another year as well as TF&the FO. Have Faith!

    Tyson Ross

@Robert Hardee that defense needs to be top priority in the offense season and then O-Line and WR tho lol

    Robert Hardee

@Tyson Ross We always seem to miss in the Draft when looking for “great” pass rushers. The jury is still out on 2022’s Draft Class although AE looks promising. The last “game changing” DE we had was John Abraham who was a FA signing from the Jets I believe. So I’m hoping we address our Defense also first with our #1 pick& more importantly top FA signing. I just was going over our needs in each unit not in order of need. 🙃

    Emmanuel kent

    They need something else

J

Keep my man Mariota for next year so we can get a defense that isn’t last place =] going to be hard for any QB to keep up with that.

Blazer Fury

Given the circumstances Ridder performed solid. I do feel good about the future of him London and Algier.(not to mention Pitts)

John St. Clair

I think Ridder will get better. But don’t use the ” he’s just a rookie” excuse. The guy he just replaced had a historic debut with 4 TD’s and a perfect passer rating. On a team that only won 3 games. Ridder deserves to be held responsible for his contributions and his mistakes.

    Jason L

Oregon fan Marcus is not attracted to you. You simping for him is EMBARRASSING

    John St. Clair

@Jason L okay, whatever the hell that is. Thanks for your invaluable input.

Comedian King

Ridder didn’t do anything that Mariota didn’t also do so all those “play Ridder” fans out there should now see it’s not the QBs fault. The play calling and lack of time management, especially in the Washington game, are the real culprits. I pray that I’m wrong about Ridder but we all knew this team wasn’t going anywhere before we drafted him and he won’t be the solution now. This team is coached to be a second half team and we don’t have all the pieces, coaching competency, or complimentary QB play from either QB to play close or from behind. They came out throwing with a rookie QB against a rival when the run game is our bread and butter even though it’s used so horribly at times. I get bringing him in now but some of us really wanted Ridder while there was still “hope” for the season. So now let’s just look at what he can do without expecting wins or a change in team dynamic without asking for a new QB in 2 weeks

George Harrell

I think we need to backup and set the correct expectations on this team:
1. Because we off-loaded the massive contracts of Julio and Matt (among others), the team was put in Cap Hell. We knew we were going to take it on the chin this year because of that, and I think that Terry and Art have done a great job with 1 year contracts on guys that (let’s be honest) no one else wanted to at least make this team competitive. If you would have told me that at the end of the year we would have won only 5 games, I would have taken it.
2. We knew that M.M. was only a gap QB at best. Maybe some were thinking that given another chance he could show he was a franchise QB but after 13 weeks we all saw it wasn’t going to be the case.
3. Desmond is a rookie….. He was put in what I would think is probably the most pressure packed situation a rookie QB could face with a game in the Super Dome and I think given the overall scope of things he did OK. Honestly, if Drake doesn’t drop the rock at the end of the game we at least go into OT or even win the game, so at the end when it counted, Desmond put the ball where it needed to go and the other rookie (Drake) makes the crucial mistake.
4. We have a 3% chance to win the division. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but to be realistic, I don’t think it will. Let’s see what Desmond has these last 3 games and see if he’s the guy next year or not. If we win the division, that’s icing on the cake.
5. Next year we have a projected 85+ million to spend on FA. that’s massive considering we’ve been handcuffed for 2 or 3 years. This team will look totally different next year, so let’s see what we can do at the draft and in the FA market.

I love this team. I’ve said over the last 3 years that I’m done with them, but I can’t jump ship. this team is in my blood and even if I did follow through with casting them to the side, I’d always look to see how they were doing. I’m a Falcon forever, win or lose. These guys have played their butts off this year and made it entertaining and for that I’m very thankful.

    ManInAmerica

George, there is nothing wrong with the roster it is Arthur Smith that is the problem. I have been involved with football for 45 years on all levels and I can tell you Arthur Smith makes some of the most atrocious playing calling I have ever seen in my life. And I am not the only one there are several long career sports writers that say the same thing. Most pass plays he called for Ridder were about 1 percent chance of completing. He rolled Ridder out to the left all day and he is a right handed passer. By doing this he made it 5 times hard to pass the ball. It is not easy passing while rolling to your left and you are a right handed passer. What a bone head Arthur Smith is! He should have rolled him to the right if the wanted to get him out of the pocket. I am not impressed with Arthur Smith at all. Worse coach this team has ever had. Two of their top picks were receivers and they are dead last in passing.

Faistyfalconfan

Rookie 4 sure Lets see the next few games. We need help all around. For a first start did well and they took learning moments that’s what matters

Karl Jenkins

He looked shaky in first half he was rushing throws wasn’t scanning the defense but second half he seemed to settle down a bit but he still look like a rookie as expected and coaches didn’t help him out with the play calls either

At the end of the day. He was put in during the bye week in WEEK 15**. He had to get the rust off and get up to speed. I think mariota wouldn’t have played any better and the team played well with the exception of the slow start on offense, the fast start on New Orleans offense, and the one turnover that proved to be the game sealing play. As much as I hate it it could’ve been so much worse.

Antwanh5

QBR of 32. Passer rating of 59. 50% completions. 3 dropped interceptions. No pass completed over 10 yards in the air. Ran out of bounds on the last play and took 4 sacks with the offense rushing for 200 yards. D- performance from the QB.

Can't touchthis

Im 56 yrs old been watching falcons since 1980 seen a lot of coaches and players come and go to say the least. I have been on many ups and downs following the Birds through it all and i got excited when Blank took over team 2002and he helped create a new feel for the franchise by hyping up the team through advertising and he great player acquisition from time to time but its always been a disappointment year after year. I am leaning for a whole new ownership taking this organization over. We have are back to drawing board once again new coach new qb but likely same ole results. Ridder may turn out to be real good but 1 r 2 r 3 great players want take you to the title it takes a whole team and coaches getting a few good players and rest mediocre and average coaches aren’t the key to becoming a great organization.

Tyler Russell

It wasn’t that loud most of the game. Last year was much louder. He was the same when it was quiet and when it was loud. I think Ridder didn’t look that good. Long ball accuracy about the same as MM. I am also worried about AS’ ability to scheme our WRs open. He hasn’t proved he’s a guru to me yet. Falcons have a long way to go.

@Steveefree

The season would ‘ve looked different if they ran the ball versus throwing the ball at the goal line for the win several games ago and all the offensive line holding calls all season.

Nick bagnulo

ALL rookies struggle in this 1st start

🙏
Ridder is better in the last 3

And year 2

“everything is on the table” …..”we are going to get back to the wins”…or something like that said Coach Smith. Ah ha, right….the rookie, Des was what?, 13/26 and 97 yds and 0 TDs. Exactly what I thought was going to happen, the kid is a rookie but some including the head coach thought somethin else was going to happen???…why??? Same ole defense as well, 14-3 in the first half. I told you guys just changing QBs wasn’t going to change shizz. So Des appears to have some talent, but clearly he’s not ready to lead the team for a playoff run at all. Not even close to being able to do that. Coach Smith caved into pressure from fans and whoever else to replace Mariota for a rookie. That was a really dumb thing to do, considering how inconsistent the Bucs are playing. Bucs lost to the Bengals which was a good possibility going into Sunday. If Marcus played at least there was a chance to beat the Saints. Any performance better than 13/26 and zero passing TDs could have won the game against the Saints. So go figure?????……Marcus is having knee surgery so maybe that was the reason for him being benched……maybe. But the idea of benching your starting QB who has experience taking a team to the playoffs and winning a playoff game is just stupid. If you watch and follow other NFL teams and how this season has been playing, you can see it’s not easy to win this season even for GREAT NFL QBs. Just ask Brady, Rodgers, Wilson, Stafford and others….Super Bowl QBs….it’s been tough, but did their teams bench them? Why not? Well the Falcons have a lot to think about…..coaching, scheme, organization…not at playoff caliber competency yet. I predict Falcons will lose the rest of their game with decreasing offensive production…..so no Des is not going to rise from the ashes like a phoenix…that’s not going to happen, he’s just a rookie not a savior. Coach screwed up, should have not caved into media and fan pressure….big mistake. Who knows maybe the owner said something to Smith………maybe.

Lor_Starcutter

My biggest takeaway is that Tyler Allgeier is a dawg and will be a future top 10 RB.
