Drew Lock: ‘We just gotta be a little better in places here and there’ – FANTASY FOOTBALL FAN SITE

Fire Shurmer!!! Drew Played his heart out

    804xBroncos4Life-Gx

@Ryan Lopata the o line and o coordinater

    Ryan Lopata

@804xBroncos4Life-Gx oh i thought you were being sarcastic about the support for drew lock. i thought u were just being a hater

    804xBroncos4Life-Gx

@Ryan Lopata Drew ain’t the answer but he played better today. To much coddling of Drew tho. We forced 3 turnovers and was given the ball at the 1 and got 13 points.

    David Burkart

Drew wasn’t the problem today, but he also wasn’t the answer. Shurm’s play calling & the O-Line weren’t giving us a chance. Not a fan of setting up what became the missed field goal. I don’t think BMac agreed with Fangio’s decision to do so

    B Loom

The raiders knew that fangio was going to limit lock in the passing game so they keyed on the run, with great results. Even with the poor offensive game plan Lock was one Albert O dropped pass away from pulling out the game.

Brian Damage

With Fangio and Shurmur running the show no team could succeed.

mike woodward

I feel bad for Drew. He got stuck with Fangio and Shurmur. Two men that have no business coaching their respective positions

    Uso Penitentiary

@Kapalua7 this is a dumb post. Paton is responsible for bringing in multiple starter level players and depth that we haven’t had on the team in years. You’re only saying this because of Teddy and acting like Paton shouldn’t get a 2nd year. If anyone is at fault here then it’s Elway for setting us back and bringing in VJ and Fangio over the last 5 years with no change and bringing in Shurmur who hasn’t moved the needle whatsoever

vinalcaraz

Drew has had incompetent coaching that is ruining his career. Scangorello was so much better (who had to work with 3 QBs).

    Nicolas Trinquart

You’re right. I don’t understand why they didn’t keep Scangarello. We had a new offense with Drew starting and a lot of young guys and they were clicking. They stopped his development by hiring a new coach who may be the worst OC right now. Such a stupid decision that’s ruining several guys’ career (Drew, Jeudy, both RBs, the defense too…)

Stephen H. Smith

YOU DID GOOD DADDY DREW

Laz Shannon

We dont need rodgers or wilson if we invest in our o line drew can get us to the playoffs and make us a superbowl contender and rodgers and wilson would cost a lot of money

    August Brante

Plus new coaching and play caller!

    buckbiro

    Offensive linemen aren’t free either.

Brute Better

To take advantage of good luck, one must prepare to do so…. 🏈 👍

Hector Perez Jr

Drew kept us in the game. He looked well prepared and did the best that he possibly could! It was nice to see our receivers have multiple opportunities. If the running game was better, it would have been a completely different game.

    David Younkin

@Curt Afdahl there has to be major changes starting with all the coaching staff, then quarterback, then offensive line, that offensive line sucks, when we get a different quarterback we need a offensive line that can protect him.did I miss anything.

    Curt Afdahl

@David Younkin Oh indeed. I’ve felt a major rebuild is necessary for quite a few years. It’ll hurt but that’s life.

    David Younkin

@Curt Afdahl ESPN is saying that denver is going all in on Wilson or Rogers, we do have a top ten defense, we just have to strengthen the offensive line. so what do you think.

    Curt Afdahl

    @David Younkin Morning Dave,
I think the timing to go after Manning in 2012 was good, to state the obvious. Although it was risky given his injuries (the neck issues made his future a dice roll) it worked out well. Granted his last season was rough and he had issues with his body, he was blessed that the team around him was solid-esp. the defense.

Having said that, I’m totally against going after a big name qb at this juncture. They’d have to pay Rodgers or Wilson some incredible amount and there they’d be. The issues that are glaring now would still be there.

Here’s my plan, not that the Broncos care, but here it is:

Part ways with Fangio and most of the coaches. He’s not a good manager of situations and I liken him dueling with other coaches to a scenario where a normal guy who can throw pumches steps into the ring with a pro boxer. He’s out of his zone and it shows.

Draft a qb, again. That’s that. And spend the next few years drafting linemen. Build the team outward to the skill Xns. They have talent now that’s simply wasted. Somebody had the idea that a solid backup qb type guy should be the starter and Bridgewater is just that. So, talent is wasted for yet another season.

But for the next few years they need to bite the bullet and patiently develop a young, humble qb. Not some kid who sings and dances like Lock when he has a few good games. Get the guy, make him better, keep the guy.

Paton may not be the best person to have either. It’s not like the Vikings have been tearing it up lately. But no doubt he’s there to stay. No doubt the egos at that level (pro team) make it tough to admit any degree of fallibility.

But again, if they were (I’m saying if, IF) to get Rodgers (I don’t care for him, but yeah..he wins) they’d spend soooo much on him that there’d be very little left to get anyone else decent. He’s approaching 40 and yeah, I get it…Brady is older than him and still doing pretty well and Rodgers seems to be doing quite well. But age is age and I’d go after young talent and build for many years of taking on the AFC West teams, not just 2 or 3 years then ohhh, Rodgers retires or gets hurt. It just doesn’t make sense to me. Let that sleeping dog lie.

We’ll see. But this season isn’t a shock to longtime fans. The good teams of the past were built. It seems like now they get a few FA guys and start talking big. Have a good one.

    David Younkin

@Curt Afdahl we are going to have new owners this offseason, and it’s just rumors that manning is going to be part of the Broncos ownership. So here it goes, we have 11 draft picks this coming draft ,sorry let me put my oxygen back on,and we have a alot of cap space so if we go get a big name quarterback I would like to see Wilson, then draft a quarterback to sit behind him for 2 or 3 years. but we have to address the elephant in the room, (offensive line)it sucks. so we need to beef up O- line so who ever we has time in the pocket.

Itz Trance

This is what needs to happen move fangio to DC, get Scangorello back on OC, get us a good HC, and draft an offensive lineman in this years draft. This is what I want to happen but it’s not gonna happen

    Uso Penitentiary

Why would Scangarello want to come back? Why would Fangio wanted to demote himself? Need to make moves that are actually realistic

    Jesus Molina

    Yea…..not happening bud.

AgmMarquez17

You can tell he’s not the issue. He’s definitely improved from last year. Better pocket awareness, better footwork, steps up in the pocket, and is way more confident. If they were smart they’d fire Fangio, Shurmur and hire an offensive minded coach to help Drew develop more. He’s got the tools and the talent. The team just needs better coaching to put it all together

    Alan Calderon

I said the same thing before about our main head coach but look at the cardenals got our last coach we fire and now there at 10-4

    NflMe

Bro this correct he improved very much

    Garrett Odion

I will say this about him, he should’ve been on the sideline getting his team in the game. Didn’t see that out of him, he should be doing that as the qb

    Steve Sin

Good observation. So many casual fans just look at stats and flash plays. He stopped drifting in the pocket and his throws are more accurate as a result.

Gerry Topper

Start Drew

Bx Bronco Jedi

I wonder what would happen if they don’t drop those passes 🤔

Nicolas Trinquart

Horrendous playcalling, dropped passes, lack of protection, no run game to open up passes… Do they even want him to succeed?

Oliver's Adventures

7 points were a gift of the defense. They gave 3 turnovers total. Offence really scored 6 points. We need alot more then that every week. He can’t help those drop balls thou. He didn’t lose the game or win the game.

    armynet191

That’s a great way to put it.. “he didn’t lose the game, or win the game.”

Kapalua7

Very clear that the worm has turned, so to speak, for Denver. Drew Lock is clearly done with this coaching staff and executive leadership. The Broncos poor play calling and misuse of Lock led to this debacle. Even if Denver were to promote Lock to starter, it no longer matters. Playing under this level of poor leadership is like being trapped on a treadmill. Drew needed to throw the ball at least 30 times yesterday. Inexcusable that that didn’t happen. The coaches were playing not to turn the ball over. Awful to watch. Drew is a “gunslinger” QB and you’ve got to unleash him, not trap him in a steady feed of conservative calls. They do that, and the running game opens up. But no, Fangio couldn’t see that. Say what you will about Fangio and Shurmer, this mess is on one person: George Paton. He saddled Denver with Teddy and refused to wrap-up the development of Lock by starting him the entire year. Paton brought his “Minnesota Mediocrity” playback to Denver and Fangio just kept flipping the pages. The lack of innovation with this team’s leadership is appalling.

    August Brante

They tried to make a Thoroughbred Gunslinger into a Game Manager! He won the pre season contest to anyone paying attention. He would be better off with TN Pit, or NO So many damn fans that are Lock Haters after one full year as starter. Crazy!!! If I had son that was a first rounder QB talent I would advice him to say no to the Broncos. mostly because of fans!

Kapalua7

Can’t wait to see Drew start next year. For another team. Denver is going to regret the way it handled his development.

    Not Rusty Shackleford

He will start next year for Denver.

    August Brante

Yeah there are way to many Lock haters that may be the best outcome for him. He would have quick impact on Pit, NO or even TN with great coaching and a team looking for gunslinger mentality with cannon of an arm he would fit right in. If I had a son that was a first rounder QB coming out of College I would advise he say no to the Broncos sort of the way Elway did to Colts and Elie did to Chargers. Bronco fans want to much to fast. it happens sometimes but not most the time!

    NflMe

@Not Rusty Shackleford ya he will

    B Loom

@August Brante yes New Orleans. Sean payton turned drew Brees from a guy passed over in San Diego for Phillip rivers into, well, drew freaking brees. What could he turn drew lock into?

August Brante

He def wasn’t the prob. He was just a game manager mentality. He is a gunslinger that is when you see the best and worst of him. This years squad so different than last year. D had a great first half and maybe if Lock was let loose we could of scored a bunch of points. But D looked just terrible against the run in 2nd half! I hope they let lock start the last 2 games!!

OneHanded Savage

Drew has 21 int without being a starter 😂😂

    D B

    Lmao

joseph urban

Same speech every fn week. We just have to be better. I’d be fired if I went to work saying that… TRUTH

Brad Delany

Fangio VS Lock was apparent in Lock’s rookie debut when he went 4 and 1. Reminiscent of Reeves VS Elway when Reeves admitted to his designing plays to injure Elway and get him out of the NFL. Fangio is choking Lock out.
